An Elden Ring player role-playing as the beloved Lady Maria experienced a perfect invasion, facing off against another of Bloodborne's critically acclaimed bosses. Elden Ring has been no stranger to players donning the appearance and name of characters from other franchises in PvP, but rarely do the stars align quite so well as this.

Bloodborne was highly regarded and The Old Hunters expansion was praised a great deal as well. To this day, the DLC is considered some of FromSoftware's finest work, in no small part because of the incredible bosses found within. Ignoring Living Failures, the other four deliver unrivaled confrontations that are elevated by breathtaking soundtracks and visually stunning environments. Lady Maria is adored by the Soulsborne community, a blood-wielding hunter who waits atop the Astral Clocktower, dedicating herself to keeping the secrets of the Fishing Hamlet hidden away.

A video posted to Reddit by Death_Metal_1 showcases a perfectly replicated Lady Maria walking along the Weeping Peninsula's shores. Equipped with two Katanas and garb that looks ripped directly from the Lovecraftian world of Yharnam, the invader searches for their prey. A figure looking out into the water reveals itself to be not only the host but also named the Orphan of Kos. For context, the Orphan is the offspring of Kos (some say Kosm), who wriggles out of its deceased mother's womb as the player approaches.

A group of Hunters and scholars from Byrgenwerth underwent an excursion to the Fishing Hamlet, having learned that a Great One's corpse had washed up nearby the village. They mutilated Kos to acquire its eldritch blood, an act that saw Maria plagued by guilt and dragged into the Hunter's Nightmare where she tries to prevent anyone from learning of her transgressions. Dozens of theories analyze whether the Orphan of Kos is real or a projection of the nightmare, but that fact does not make it less of a threat.

The fight that ensues is a testament to the quality of the featured role-playing. Wielding Curved Greatswords in place of the placenta used by the real Orphan, they flail around similarly to the terrifying boss. No doubt inspired by the lightning that can be summoned in its second phase, the host makes use of the Frozen Lightning Spear incantation. Lady Maria deftly performs Bloodhound Step to avoid the Orphan's onslaught and strikes with an apt Bloody Slash before concluding the fateful duel with a jumping attack.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
