An Elden Ring gamer's attempt to ambush a host quickly becomes a disaster. Elden Ring recently won the Game of The Year award at The Game Awards, with the most praise for its story, gameplay, and interactive open world. While everyone admires Elden Ring's story mode, its multiplayer mode is also considered very enjoyable. The multiplayer mode allows gamers to test their skills against fellow Elden Ring players and see how their build compares to others.

Elden Ring players have the option to summon other gamers during boss fights, leading to a fun experience with their friends. On the other hand, many Elden Ring gamers prefer the PvP action, where they can invade the world of another player to kill them, gaining access to their runes and equipment. Sometimes, Elden Ring invasions don't go as planned, as one gamer found out.

Reddit user BeejBeachBall shared a clip on the Elden Ring subreddit showing their attempt to invade another world. The video shows them trying to ambush the host while waiting for them in a catacomb in Elden Ring. Like most dungeons, this particular area in Elden Ring is infested with fire traps that release a barrage of deadly flames at regular intervals. The invader has carefully positioned themselves in a small gap, so they're safe from the fire traps and hidden from the eyes of the host.

The user hears the host approaching their location when they prepare for an attack, but their plans are soon foiled. As BeejBeachBall steps out of the gap to assault the host in Elden Ring, the fire trap gets activated at the precise moment. As a result, they get caught in the deadly blaze of the fire trap, dying instantly in a gruesome way. What's more disheartening about this failed invasion is that not only the user died from an in-game hazard, but the host and their accomplice were unharmed from the entire ordeal.

BeejBeachBall's video is another example that shows the unexpected nature of Elden Ring invasions. Players can never know what to expect when invading another world, as the host might be highly overpowered or under-leveled. Other times, Elden Ring gamers use innovative techniques to vanquish their opponents in PvP battles. One Elden Ring player tricked an invader into falling off a cliff, while another host used Rya to escape a battle.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
