Elden Ring is full of memorable challenges, ranging from the two-on-one battle against the Godskin Duo to the well-hidden encounter with Dragonlord Placidusax. However, no Elden Ring boss can compete with Malenia when it comes to their sheer difficulty level, as many have been felled by the Blade of Miquella.

Unless someone is incredibly skilled at Elden Ring like the legendary player "Let Me Solo Her," they will likely die to Malenia dozens of times before they master the fight or call in a summon to help bring her down. Still, with the game having been out for several weeks now, players have found strategies to make it a bit easier to deal with this boss. Alongside the all-powerful mimic tear and bleed builds, a player has discovered that the Crucible Horns incantation can be used to bully Malenia.

Where is Elden Ring’s Crucible Horns Incantation?

This particular Elden Ring incantation sees players creating an ethereal horn on their shoulder that they then use to charge directly into their enemies. However, it can only be picked up in Stormveil Castle, so players that do not have it in their inventory will need to head back to the location and pick it up if they feel like making Malenia’s day a whole lot rougher.

While in Stormveil Castle, players will want to take the first possible left after clearing out the three pesky eagle enemies in the ramparts area. After they find a dead end, they will want to jump down, continuing to descend until they reach a ruined archway with a Crucible Knight. If killed, this difficult enemy will drop the Aspect of the Crucible: Horns incantation. From there, players will be good to go, though it is worth noting that level 27 Faith will be required to make use of the incantation. Further, getting a bit of a charge will boost the damage dealt by the horn.

Elden Ring’s Crucible Horns Incantation in Action

While this incantation can stun large enemies, what is truly entertaining about it is that it can send smaller Elden Ring enemies flying into the air - and Malenia is included in the regular enemy category. As such, Reddit user boscolosco was quick to utilize this incantation in their Malenia fight, spamming the Crucible Horns for several seconds. Each time Malenia is hit, she is launched upwards, getting a surprising amount of air time before crashing back to the ground.

What makes this approach to the Malenia fight so memorable is that she has no time to recover and dish out attacks of her own. Because of this, her game-ending Waterfowl Dance can be canceled alongside any of her other attacks. While each use of the Crucible Horns will drain FP, the attack does not take enough to activate to be concerning. As such, those that want to use this trick to slowly chip away at her health can do so, setting up a large FP bar and spamming the maneuver.

Unsurprisingly, this clip did well on Reddit, with players that have struggled fighting Malenia happy to see her get her comeuppance. Alongside many comments praising the player for discovering and sharing this strategy, the post has gotten well over 15,000 upvotes from Elden Ring fans. While it may not be a fair fight, those looking to beat her without the recommended builds or one of Elden Ring’s summons can give this incantation a try. At the very least, it should prove entertaining to throw her into the air a few times.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
