Elden Ring’s closed network test in November was met with almost universal praise and it quickly became one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2022. Every Elden Ring trailer was met with more excitement, and some fans believed that it would not live up to the unbelievable amount of hype.

Reviews for Elden Ring came out yesterday and many critics gave it a perfect score. While most games by From Software land in the high 80s to early 90s range on Metacritic, Elden Ring is sitting at a 97. Its latest release, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, holds a rating of 90, and also won GOTY at The Game Awards in 2019. However, Elden Ring has surpassed all previous From Software games, and the developer is perhaps busy celebrating this massive achievement.

The official Twitter account for Elden Ring has just posted an image that shows some perfect scores received by the game. It displays 4 columns of perfect scores, with a rating of either 10/10 or 5-Stars. The ratings for Elden Ring on Metacritic and OpenCritic are listed at the bottom, with an astronomical number of 97 and 96 respectively. There is a pleasant symmetry to the way these scores are presented in the image, and more perfect scores are probably on the way.

Well-received games often get an accolades trailer shortly after reviews come out, and From Software is probably working on such a trailer for Elden Ring. While some fans are replying to this tweet by posting memes, others are showing off their copies of the game. Some are also sharing their concerns regarding its performance on both console and PC, as a new report suggests that Elden Ring struggles to run at 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Elden Ring is currently the second-highest-rated game on OpenCritic, beaten only by Super Mario Odyssey. Similarly, Elden Ring joins an elite rank on Metacritic, which only has five games with a rating above 97. However, it only shows 46 reviews as of this moment, and Elden Ring’s score may drop once more reviews get posted online. As an average, most big releases receive around 100+ review scores.

Regardless, it looks like Elden Ring could be the highest-rated game of 2022, and quite possibly of this console generation. It is a monumental achievement for From Software, further cementing its status as one of the best studios in the industry.

Elden Ring launches February 25 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
