Runes are the main in-game currency in Elden Ring, which players can use to buy various items, level up their character, and make it stronger. However, because Runes are lost upon death, most players prefer spending them quickly. This is where Golden Runes come in handy. They are a special item that players can use to get extra Runes in Elden Ring. But how do they work, and how to acquire and use them? Read on to find out!

How Do Golden Runes Work in Elden Ring?

Golden Runes are not like the Runes that players get by defeating enemies; instead, they are spread randomly across the map, like dungeons, skulls, and even defeated enemies. Unlike regular Runes, they stay safe until players decide to use them.

Golden Runes come in different levels, and each level grants players with a different amount of Runes.

How to Use Golden Runes in Elden Ring

To use Golden Runes, players will need to open their inventory and navigate to the ‘Tools’ category. Here, they will find all the Golden Runes that they have collected. To use one, select it and then choose ‘use’ from the menu. Upon doing this, the Tarnished will smash it to get a specific number of Runes. And yes, players can also sell it to a merchant.

To get more Runes, players should consider selling high-level Golden Runes. The least they can get is 200 Runes, so it’s always a nice boost to the total Runes count. Players just need to keep an eye out for anything glowing on the ground, and they’ll have a lot of Golden Runes easily. Players can save them up for major upgrades or for buying expensive items.
