Souls Games are commonly known for their interesting character design (both NPCs and enemies) and Elden Ring is no different. The undiscovered map is filled with beasts that come in all shapes and sizes. One of them is the Walking Mausoleum: a creature that's made of stone and has four legs with a huge bell between them sometimes. On top of it is a building that contains a black corpse.

Some players would think that jumping onto it from a higher area is the only way to enter, but fortunately, that's not the case. There's a much easier method to enter the building on top. It's very simple and can be used on all Mausoleums walking around the Lands Between in Elden Ring. Players hoping to find out how to stop and enter a Walking Mausoleum need only read on.

How To Stop And Enter Walking Mausoleums In Elden Ring

gray skulls on walking mausoleum legs in elden ring

Once players find a Walking Mausoleum, they have to target the gray skulls on its legs. Keep in mind that walking isn’t an option, as the Mausoleum will do a jump attack that causes heavy damage. As a result, summoning the spirit horse Torrent will make the job a lot easier. Tarnished will have to ride between its legs and run as far as possible when it jumps.

Every leg has a random number of gray skulls, so players have to switch the leg once all the stuff is gone. After a while, the Walking Mausoleum will start to wobble and will then bend its knees and fall to the ground. Players should try not to stay beneath it, as the falling Mausoleum will crush players with its immense weight.

Once the Walking Mausoleum falls, players should do a double jump with Torrent and climb on top of it. They'll then have to walk around the building until a door becomes visible.

At this point, players can dismiss the horse and open the door to find a headless black corpse holding its hands up. By examining the corpse, Tarnished can now duplicate any boss Remembrance. They'll need to keep in mind, however, that each Mausoleum can only be used to duplicate one Remembrance. After that, it cannot be used again.

Remembrances are items dropped by defeating large Bosses and Demi-Gods like Godrick the Grafted. Usually, players can only use it to purchase something from Finger Reader Enia at the Roundtable Hold. Thanks to the Walking Mausoleum though, any Remembrance can now be duplicated and used again. This action can be done even if players have already used the Remembrance.

Where To Find Walking Mausoleums

To find a Walking Mausoleum, Tarnished need to take advantage of the bell between its legs. It will make a loud, coherent sound, so they just have to follow the noise until they reach it. Mausoleums are spread around the Lands Between, so, with enough exploration, players will eventually bump into one. Here are a couple of known locations:

  • Liurnia of the Lakes : Two Walking Mausoleums can be found north of the Church of Vows. In addition, there’s one that can be found northeast of Raya Lucaria.
  • Weeping Peninsula : One Walking Mausoleum can be found east of the Church of Pilgrimage.
  • Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs : There’s a Walking Mausoleum that attacks players with magic just outside the Apostate Derelict Church.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
