In Elden Ring, the Academy of Raya Lucaria housed many exceptional sorcerers, but almost all of them met a terrible fate. Many of Raya Lucaria’s secrets are revealed in the Sorceress Sellen’s questline, as Sellen sends out the Tarnished to find the whereabouts of two of the original founders of Raya Lucaria Academy. On progressing through her questline, players will find the bodies of these primeval sorcerers and discover what had become of them after studying the Primeval Current. But even with their tragic end, their glimpse into the Primeval Current led them to discover two legendary sorceries: Stars of Ruin and Comet Azur .

While Comet Azur is meant for a one-shot build, Stars of Ruin is a spammable spell, making it useful in both PVP and PVE. Stars of Ruin can be explained as a powerful version of Glintstore Stars and Star Shower. Instead of three or six homing projectiles, Stars of Ruin fires twelve projectiles, dealing immense damage to large enemies and being hard to dodge in PVP fights.

To obtain Stars of Ruin, players just have to find Master Lusat and interact with his immobile body. Follow this guide to learn about Master Lusat’s location and how to claim the legendary Stars of Ruin spell in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring may not provide Sorceress Sellen with a special ending, but she does still get a full quest for Tarnished to follow.

Elden Ring: Stars of Ruin Spell Location

To obtain the Stars of Ruin spell, you must find Master Lusat’s body hidden deep inside the Sellia Hideaway, a cave concealed behind the graveyard northeast of the Church of the Plague in Caelid. To do so, you need to progress through Sellen’s questline until she grants them the Sellian Sealbreaker. If players have not yet encountered Sellen, they can find her locked within the cellar beneath the Waypoint Ruins, situated east of Agheel Lake in Limgrave. Prepare to fight the Mad Pumpkin Head boss to gain access to Sellen’s chamber.

Next, players will have to find Master Azur in Mt. Gelmir’s Hermit Village and obtain the Comet Azur spell from him. Upon returning to Sellen, players should present Azur’s sorcery to advance her quest. Once Master Azur’s whereabouts are revealed, Sellen will assign players the task of finding Master Lusat and providing them with the Sellian Sealbreaker.

Travel to the Church of the Plague and head northeast to find a graveyard with a lone battlemage standing in front of a large tombstone. Roll or strike the wall behind this tombstone to unveil the entrance to Sellia Hideaway. This hidden cave houses various enemies, including a Revenant, one of the most annoying and terrifying enemies in Elden Ring.

Upon entering the cave, players will soon encounter a blocked end, but rolling into the wall will make it fade away. Another such wall will be just a little ahead. After passing through them, players will enter an area with large crystallized pillars growing out of cliffs. Take the first pillar going across the cliff to the north to find a stone digger waiting. Defeat or run past it to find another pillar in the north with a crystal snail on it. Sprint and make the jump to reach the cliff on the other side.

Now, players must safely jump down to the bottom pit to find a sorcerer guarding the sealed entrance to Master Lusat. After defeating him, interact with the seal to use the Sellian Sealbreaker. Once the seal is broken, players can go ahead and talk to Master Lusat to obtain the Stars of Ruin spell.

After collecting the spell, players can return to Sellen to continue her questline. Upon finishing her quest, players can return to Master Lusat’s location to obtain his armor set along with Lusat’s Glintstone Crown, which specifically boosts Stars of Ruin by 15%, but also increases its FP cost by 15%. While the crown might not be the best-looking gear to wear, it is worth a try for players attempting to maximize damage with Stars of Ruin.

Is Stars of Ruin Spell Good or Not?

Elden Ring - Stars of Ruin spell

Stars of Ruin is one of the eight legendary spells in Elden Ring. As a legendary spell, it is not to be taken lightly. This spell has a requirement of 43 Intelligence and an FP cost of 32, making it accessible mostly to high-level Intelligence builds.

Because of its quick casting time and moderately low FP cost, players can easily spam Stars of Ruin at their enemies. When charged, this spell deals an extra 30% damage. It can be further boosted by equipping Lusat’s Glintstone Crown, Lusat’s Glintstone Staff, Godfrey’s Icon talisman, and Graven-Mass talisman.

Stars of Ruin is a popular choice among mages in PVP fights. As this spell launches twelve homing projectiles at enemies, players can overwhelm opponents easily, forcing them into panic rolls. After casting Stars of Ruin, players can combo it with other spells to press on their enemies. As a result, Stars of Ruin enjoys a notorious reputation within the PVP community of Elden Ring.
