In the Soulsborne community, gamers have always primarily focused on boosting their attacking prowess, and this stands true in FromSoft’s successful open-world title, Elden Ring. There are tons of powerful armaments, fashionable armor sets, and novel talismans to help players in their journey through The Lands Between. It is easy to create a one-shot build and blast through the bosses in Elden Ring, but this might not fare well for newcomers or in New Game + cycles, where bosses are tremendously strong.

For such cases, Elden Ring has plenty of ways to raise the Tarnished defense stats. Players can boost their damage negation by equipping armors like Bull-Goat armor, eating consumables like Boiled Crab, and defense talismans like Dragoncrest Greatshield and Ritual Shield. While equipping the Bull-Goat armor set requires a high investment in Stamina, assigning a defensive talisman will only take one talisman slot.

Out of all talismans, the Ritual Shield provides the best damage reduction while the player is at max HP. If you are getting one-shot by an enemy and don’t want to put more stat points into Vigor, then the Ritual Shield talisman is the best choice for you. It reduces incoming damage by 30%, as long as you have a full health bar. Luckily, you only need access to Leyndell to claim this wonderful talisman. Here’s how you can get the Ritual Shield talisman in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring: Ritual Shield Talisman Location

Elden Ring - Ritual Shield location

Players can find the Ritual Shield talisman on a corpse in front of the colosseum located in Leyndell, Royal Capital. Go to the West Capital Rampart site of grace in Leyndell and head in the south direction. Walk under the giant branches to find a bridge leading to the colosseum. Take the path going uphill to find the colosseum’s entrance. On the way, you will find a Duelist patrolling on the path and another guarding the corpse with the Ritual Shield talisman near the colosseum’s entrance.

If you are new to Leyndell, you might not have unlocked the West Capital Rampart grace site. To get to the West Capital Rampart, players will first have to reach the East Capital Rampart site of grace, which is the first grace site in Leyndell. From the East Capital Rampart, leave through the exit on the southwest and then take the pathway with Envoys. You can choose to go through buildings or jump down the roofs on the right side to reach the main street of Leyndell.

Walking towards the southwest on the main street, you will soon encounter an Erdtree Avatar enemy who falls down from the sky. You will find the Avenue Balcony site of grace just ahead and to the right of the Erdtree Avatar. From the Avenue Balcony grace site, take the stairs going down and keep heading in the same direction to reach the dead ancient dragon Gransax’s wing. Be careful of the Leyndell Knights on the way.

Elden Ring - Ritual Shield talisman

After climbing the wings, start heading south to find a ladder. Climb the ladder and go past the Leyndell Knight and a hiding Leyndell Soldier to find the West Capital Rampart site of grace. From here, head south, and you will find the colosseum towering on a hill. Climb this hill to find a corpse with the Ritual Shield talisman in front of the colosseum's entrance door.
