In the far north of The Lands Between lies the Mountaintops of the Giants, now left in ruins after the war between Fire Giants and Erdtree. In Elden Ring, the history of Fire Giants remains unknown to players until they defeat Morgott the Omen King and gain access to the Mountaintops of the Giants. However, lore enthusiasts would be amazed to know just how much information is available about these fabled creatures right from the early regions of Elden Ring.

In Liurnia of the Lakes, players can come across several Fire Monks roaming around in the land of magic and swamps, away from their cold and snowy peaks. The reason for such a long journey is that their fire was stolen by a fugitive named Adan who has fled to Liurnia. This thief holds the legendary incantation called the Flame of the Fell God, a spell holding the power of the Fell God said to be residing inside every Fire Giant.

Flame of the Fell God conjures a giant ball of flame that tracks its target and causes an explosion. Players who have fought the Fire Giant boss in Mountaintops of the Giants already know about these attacks. This legendary spell can be unlocked by defeating Adan, Thief of Fire, and here’s how you can find him.

Elden Ring: Flame of the Fell God Spell Location

Elden Ring - Malefactor's Evergaol location

Flame of the Fell God is one of the easiest legendary spells to get in Elden Ring. If you are planning to get the Legendary Magic Spells achievement, Flame of the Fell God should be on top of your list. To get this spell, you will have to kill Adan, Thief of Fire locked inside the Malefactor's Evergaol located on the cliff on the southern tip of Liurnia of the Lakes.

Travel to the Liurnia Lake Shore site of grace. Go northwest of this grace site to find a spiritspring jump (whirlwind) and use it to reach the top of the cliff on the west. In the southern part of this cliff, you will find the Malefactor’s Evergaol. Enter the evergaol and defeat Adan, Thief of Fire to get the Flame of the Fell God spell.

How to Defeat Adan, Thief of Fire

Elden Ring - Fighting Adan in Malefactor's Evergaol

Adan, the Fire Thief, is a Tarnished foe, which means he fights, dodges, and can heal by drinking flasks. Fortunately, he only has two healing flasks. Adan's attacks are fairly limited; he swings a flail and casts Catch Flame and Flame of the Fell God. However, defeating him can be tough since he's one of the first Tarnished enemies you encounter in Elden Ring.

To defeat Adan, it's best to keep your distance and use long-range attacks. If you get too close, he will either swing his flail wildly or cast Catch Flame repeatedly. As for Flame of the Fell God, just make sure you are out of its range when he tries to cast it. It takes him a while to do so, giving you time to react. Plus, there's a Stake of Marika nearby, so you won't have to trek back every time you are defeated.

How to Use Flame of the Fell God

Elden Ring Adan Thief of Fire Guide Malefactors Evergaol Flame Of The Fell God

Flame of the Fell God is a strong legendary incantation for Faith caster builds in Elden Ring. This spell comes with a requirement of 41 Faith and needs 34 FP to cast it. Unlike most other spells, Flame of the Fell God takes two memory slots to equip. If you want to use more spells along with Flame of the Fell God, consider collecting some memory stones to unlock a few more spell slots.

Flame of the Fell God is a pretty slow spell with a long casting time, which makes it unfavorable against fast enemies. However, its explosion can knockback humanoid enemies, making it a spell worth trying against Malenia, as she is weak to Fire and has low poise. You can also increase the damage dealt by the Flame of the Fell God by using Giant’s Seal, Fire Scorpion Charm talisman, Flock’s Canvas talisman, and Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear.
