Elden Ring is a challenging game based in the expansive world of the Lands Between. In this unforgiving world, players need to fight deadly enemies and bosses as the game proceeds. Naturally, brute strength alone is not enough, and players need whatever help they can get.

Whetblades in Elden Ring serve as a special type of weapon, also known as Key Items, as they allow the use of Ashes of War at Sites of Lost Grace. Whetstone knife is a kind of Whetblade in Elden Ring. Keep reading to learn how to find it.

Whetstone Knife Location in Elden Ring

Weapons come in different types in Elden Ring. Some are used for dealing damage in direct combat, while others are used for incantations and activations. Whetstone knife falls into the indirect weapons category; more accurately, it is a Key Item.

In the game, the Whetstone knife can be used to add affinities and new battle arts to weapons. It adds skills to weapons, but players need to be at a Site of Grace to be able to use it. Being a Whetblade, it is also used for equipping the Ashes of War at Sites of Grace.

Whetstone Knife is found in the southeastern area of Gatefront Ruins. To be more precise, players will have to visit the Limgrave area, just east of the Gatefront Site of Grace, to locate the Whetstone knife.

In Gatefront Ruins, they will find an underground path. Going down along this underground path, they will see a door. Opening this door will reveal a treasure chest, and in this chest, they will find the Whetstone knife, along with the Ash of War: Storm Stomp. It is important to note that this area has a lot of enemies, so players will have to kill them first.

How to Use Whetstone Knife in Elden Ring

As mentioned earlier, the Whetstone Knife is required for using Ashes of War in Elden Ring. To use an Ash of War, players need to go to a Site of Grace and rest there. Upon choosing the rest option, players will see a menu. From the list of options, they will have to choose the “Ash of War” option and then select the armament that they want to apply the Ash of War to.

One thing to keep in mind is that some Ashes of War are only meant for specific weapons, so they cannot be used on all armaments.
