Elden Ring boasts a wide variety of weapon classes, never seen before in a Soulsborne game. Right from the start, players can collect many different types of weapons by exploring the starting region, Limgrave, and its nearby surroundings. Although all classes start out with exceptional weapons like the Uchigatana, Longsword, and Scimitars, players can further improve their builds by collecting more weapons in Elden Ring.

The Shamshir is an impressive early game weapon for Dexterity builds in Elden Ring. It is a curved sword equipped with Spinning Slash and pairs well with the Warrior class, which starts with Scimitars. Being a curved sword, the Shamshir has a fast moveset, making it an excellent choice for builds focused on status build-ups like Blood Loss, Poison, and Frostbite. Moreover, power-stancing two curved swords is one of the deadliest combinations in The Lands Between, especially when paired with Thorny Cracked Tear and talismans like Millicent’s Prosthesis and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia.

With the right build, the Shamshir can shred through a large boss's HP bar in no time, and the best part is you can obtain it easily without having to fight any bosses. Here’s how you can find the Shamshir in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring: Shamshir Location Guide

The Shamshir is found inside the Highroad Cave located at the bottom of the cliff north of Saintsbridge in Limgrave. This weapon is located on a corpse lying on a circular platform alongside two giant bats.

Elden Ring - Highroad Cave location

Players who have unlocked the Saintsbridge site of grace can fast travel to the grace site for a quick route. Then, ride the Torrent and use it to jump on the whirlwind south of Saintsbridge for a safe landing to the bottom. At the bottom of the cave, you will find giant land octopuses roaming on the riverbed. Avoid confrontation with them unless you want to fight these tanky tentacle monsters.

Head north from the land octopuses to find the entrance to the Highroad Cave underneath the cliff on the left side. The Highroad Cave is filled with wolves and bats, which can be quite frustrating to deal with if you are new to the game or have low vigor. At first, the Highroad Cave might not seem too big, but it ends up surprising players with its multiple layers. Players can encounter two tunnels, which will take them to the bottom layers of the cave filled with tons of bats.

Elden Ring - Shamshir location

At the bottom of the cave, players will find a waterfall, in front of which will be a circular platform surrounded by a few broken pillars. This is where parkour skills come into play. After fighting the bats, players will have to jump down to the platform with the two bats scavenging a corpse. You will find the Shamshir on this corpse.

Players can choose to explore the Highroad Cave further to fight the Guardian Golem boss. On defeating it, you will be rewarded with the Blue Dancer Charm talisman.

Is Shamshir a good weapon?

The Shamshir has one of the longest ranges among curved swords in Elden Ring. With its fast moveset and decent range, the Shamshir stands out as a decent weapon choice for Dexterity builds, especially in the early game. Moreover, the Shamshir has a non-unique skill, meaning it can be upgraded using regular smithing stones. With infusions and Ashes of War, players can further improve the Shamshir’s utility. Here are some powerful Ashes of War you can infuse the Shamshir with:

  • Sword Dance
  • Storm Blade
  • Bloody Slash
  • Sacred Blade
  • Hoarfrost Stomp
