Players that are just starting their Elden Ring journey will likely be overwhelmed by the number of weapons they can choose to wield. The easiest way to navigate the mass of choices is to first decide on a play style or particular set of stats. Once that's done, players can then hone in on a multitude of different weapon types that will fit within those parameters.
Gamers that choose to go the Dexterity route in Elden Ring will have a lot of fun and fast weapons to choose from, but there is one, in particular, that is rather powerful and rewarding in the early game. Rogier's Rapier comes already leveled to +8, giving Dex players a pretty big jump forward in its progression. The best part is that the weapon can be grabbed relatively early on, after the first "main boss" has been defeated.
Where To Find Sorcerer Rogier In Elden Ring
The first step in snagging Rogier's Rapier +8 is to find the Sorcerer Rogier and speak with him. This is a bit easier said than done as it requires players to first gain access to Stormveil Castle by defeating the immensely powerful boss, Margit, The Fell Omen. Margit's attacks are insanely fast, difficult to avoid, and offer a lot of variety. Players will likely spend a lot of time leveling up and honing their dodging and blocking skills before they're able to successfully defeat the boss that guards Stormveil Castle.
Once players gain access to Stormveil Castle they'll want to progress until they unlock the Site of Grace at the Rampart Tower. From there, they can exit the door leading to the outside and walk across the ramparts towards the connected church. It's very important to be careful here as there are three large birds wielding knives that will swoop down and quickly overwhelm the player. The first bird will attack solo while the second two will attack in a pair. It's also important to note that these birds will sling an explosive barrel at the player before going on the offensive. This explosion is fairly large and can do a lot of damage, so it's best to bait the attack and then avoid the explosion.
After making it past the birds, players can head down a nearby staircase, step onto a rampart towards the church tower and then hop down onto the roof to enter a nearby open window. Dropping down inside here will put players in the room with Rogier, who is standing near the Altar.
How To Get Rogier's Rapier +8 In Elden Ring
Once players have spoken to Rogier, getting the rapier itself requires them to fell a pretty large and imposing boss. Godrick the Grafted stands as the first "big bad" of Elden Ring's expansive open world and should provide a pretty immense challenge for those that are unprepared. Many believe that Godrick isn't as difficult to beat as Margit, the Fell Omen, so those that comfortably made their way through that boss shouldn't struggle much with Godrick himself.
Once Godrick the Grafted has fallen, Rogier will make his way from the Chapel of Stormveil Castle to a new spot in Roundtable Hold. Players can find Rogier in his new spot overlooking the balcony (in the same area that players can jump down to fight the NPC invader, Mad Tongue Alberich). Finding and speaking to Rogier in Roundtable Hold after defeating Godrick the Grafted will reward players with Rogier's Rapier +8.
What Does Rogier's Rapier Do?
Rogier's Rapier is a Dexterity and Strength-based Thrusting Sword that can output quite a bit of damage thanks to its 136 + 55 physical power. It's capable of thrusting through enemy armor rather quickly and its fast strikes can down unaware enemies before they have a chance to respond. It can also keep enemies at range thanks to its thrusting stance, which will have players "poking out" at enemies from a medium distance instead of forcing them to engage up close.
To make it even better, Rogier's Rapier comes equipped with Glintblade Phalanx, a weapon skill that will call forth fourth spectral swords that can then be launched at an opponent, dealing immense damage and staggering them (when possible). Rogier's Rapier +8 requires 17 Dexterity and 8 Strength to wield.
