Players that enjoy slinging spells using magical items will find a lot to choose from in Elden Ring. Thanks to a wide array of Sorceries, magical weapons, and Incantations, Tarnished have the freedom to craft builds that revolve around some truly spectacular feats and abilities. Those that are looking to dabble a bit in the Dark Arts can also collect a series of spells and Incantations that belong to the school of Death Sorcery.

Of these Death-centric items, those containing Ghostflame attributes can be especially powerful in the right hands. A great example is the Explosive Ghostflame Sorcery, which seems overtly weak to some, but incredibly underrated to others. This Sorcery will cause an explosion of Ghostflame that spreads into a wide AOE around the caster, dealing damage over time. Those that fully embrace magic and want to unlock the true potential of their Death Sorceries should definitely give this spell a shot. Here's where to find the Explosive Ghostflame Sorcery in Elden Ring.

Where To Find The Explosive Ghostflame Sorcery In Elden Ring

Elden Ring Ordina Liturgical Death Rite Bird Location

Players that want to get their hands on the Explosive Ghostflame ability will need to first reach the Consecrated Snowfields hidden area West of the Mountaintops of the Giants. To do this, players need to find and collect two pieces of the Secret Haligtree Medallion. The first piece can be snagged from a hidden NPC in the Village of Albinaurics, and the second must be liberated from Castle Sol, far North in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Those that want a more detailed look at how to put the Secret Haligtree Medallion together can use this handy guide.

Once players make it to the Consecrated Snowfields, they'll want to head North until they run into Ordina, Liturgical Town. It's recommended that players unlock the Site of Grace here as obtaining the Explosive Ghostflame means tackling a pretty imposing boss for some. Once players are ready, they'll need to make sure it's nighttime (players can pass time at a Site of Grace) and then head West of Ordina, Liturgical Town until they come to a frozen river. There, in the Northernmost part of the river, players will encounter a Death Rite Bird. Defeating this powerful foe will reward players with the Explosive Ghostflame Sorcery.

What Does The Explosive Ghostflame Sorcery Do?

Elden Ring Explosive Ghostflame

Those looking to spice up their spells with something a bit more macabre will want to snag this spell from the Death Sorceries lineup. Using this spell will cause players to slam a staff into the ground and cause an explosion of Ghostflame that will then spread out into an AOE and do continuous damage to anything caught within it. It has a large AOE, making it a solid choice for groups of enemies.

It requires a hefty 42 Intelligence and 30 Faith in order to wield it and costs 36 FP per cast. Players can buff its effect even further by using the Prince of Death's Staff.
