Elden Ring has many deadly status effects that can quickly turn the tide of battle. Bleed is one of these status effects that can be applied by a wide range of enemies and weapons, letting players also utilize this deadly effect.

Once the build-up bar fills up, Blood Loss will immediately deal a percentage of damage against the target based on their max health. This makes Bleed an excellent tool when dealing with high HP enemies such as the Sleeping Dragon in Elden Ring. For those who have trouble with enemies utilizing Bleed, there are a few things that can prevent it from taking effect.

How To Counter Bleed In Elden Ring

Bleed can't be cured after it goes into effect like other status ailments, as the results are instant once the bar fills up. Players instead will have to focus on reducing the bar that builds up. This bar will naturally decline slowly every few seconds, but combat will require a faster method. Stanching Boluses can be crafted and used in combat to immediately clear most of a player's Bleed build-up.

Players can craft a Stanching Boluse after obtaining the Nomadic Warrior (7) on the eastern side of the outside of Stormveil Castle in Elden Ring. With this cookbook, players can craft Stanching Boluses with 1 Herba, 1 Cave Moss, and 1 Land Octopus Ovary. Players can also use the Incantation Bestial Constitution or Lord's Aid to alleviate any build-up.

How To Resist Bleed In Elden Ring

A player's resistance to Bleed is based on their Robustness stat, which is increased by leveling up Endurance. Robustness is also a major stat found on armor, with heavier armor offering much higher Robustness. A character's overall Robustness is determined by both their Endurance level and the Robustness total of all equipped armor. Increasing your Endurance increases the player's equipment load in Elden Ring; and allows for heavier armor to be used more effectively, helping tankier builds worry about Bleed much less.

The Stalwart Horn Charm can be equipped to increase the player's total Robustness. Players can also temporarily increase their Robustness by crafting two items found in the Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook (2). This cookbook can be found very early in the game at the Church of Elleh by purchasing it from Merchant Kale.
