How to Defeat Mad Pumpkin Head in Elden Ring

This field boss can be found in two locations: Waypoint Ruins and Caelm Ruins. The former is located in the region of Western Limgrave. There are two ways to reach Waypoint Ruins: Players can go north from the Site of Grace of Agheel Lake South, or they can also move southeast from the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace.

The other location where Mad Pumpkin Head can be found is Caelm Ruins. To reach this location, players simply need to climb the Caelid Highway in Caelid, in the western region near the telescope.

Mad Pumpkin Head carries enormous weapons and wears a distinct pumpkin-shaped helmet. To fight the Mad Pumpkin Head, one good tactic is to use Lone Wolf Ashes. These ashes will distract the field boss, and players can use that to their advantage. Another good tip is to attack him from behind, as this area is vulnerable, and players will be able to cause a lot of damage.

The weakness of this boss lies in its slowness. So, he may take a long time to recover and reposition. Players need to be quick on their feet and attack in the gaps it takes him to rebalance. His slowness also does not allow him to attack again and again, or attack very fast. He will likely make a series of heavy attacks and then take time to reposition himself. Players should use this chance to attack his unprotected back where they can cause maximum damage.

Another way to capitalize on the Mad Pumpkin Head’s weakness is to call the Spirit Ashes. These companions can be summoned via the Spirit Calling Bell. While they distract him, players can keep hitting on his vulnerable back and then move away quickly to ward off any spells, arrows, or attacks.
