There are a number of small settlements and quaint villages in Elden Ring, some more intact than others. The Hermit Village is not exactly one of the prettiest villages in Elden Ring, but don't let the drab scenery fool you into thinking it's a desolate ruin. For players who use Sorceries, it's practically a required stop.

Found deep into Mount Gelmir, Hermit Village can only be accessed by taking a long, winding path through Mt Gelmir's deep canyon. It can be easy to lose your way down there, and there are lots of obstacles to watch out for on the journey - including a Runebear leveled for Mount Gelmir.

What Is In Hermit Village?

Elden Ring Comet Azur Spell

There are plenty of reasons that make it worth trudging through Mt. Gelmir to make it to Hermit Village. There is a ton of great Sorcery gear in Hermit Village that make it a must-stop for players who lean towards the magical aspects of combat. Master Sorcerer Azur can be found just beyond Hermit Village, who is central to Sellen's questline and gives the player a powerful spell: Comet Azur. This spell can be cast constantly in a beam and, though it uses a lot of FP, deals a ton of damage.

Additionally, the Errant Sorcerer Set can be found here, including the Hierodas Glintstone Crown, hidden behind one of the shacks. Beating the nearby world boss Demihuman Queen Maggie yields a Memory Stone, and for non-Sorcery players, the fan-favorite Prattling Pate "You're Beautiful" is found here too. There are of course consumable items, Runes, and crafting materials spread throughout Hermit Village, but none that stand out in particular, especially in comparison to key items and gear found here.

How To Get To Mt Gelmir's Hermit Village

Elden-Ring-Mt-Gelmir

To get to Hermit Village, start all the way back in the Altus Plateau at either the Seethewater River or the Wyndham Catacombs Site of Grace. If you have the map for Mount Gelmir unlocked, you should see a ravine that snakes around Volcano Manor on the east and north sides. Follow this ravine north, then west, until you can see Fort Laiedd and the Site of Grace just beyond the mouth of the ravine. Continue heading west, then south to find a Magma Wyrm boss fight.

Either defeat the Magma Wyrm or ride Torrent around it to reach the Hermit's Shack. You're almost there - head east under the rocky overpass to reach the Craftsman's Shack Site of Grace, but watch out for the Runebear that jumps out of nowhere just before the overpass. If you're quick and stay as far away as possible, you should avoid it in time to reach the Grace. Then, simply keep following the path northwest and you'll reach Hermit Village. A side note: Azur isn't in the village itself, he is found just around the corner next to the rock bridge leading north.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
