Elden Ring features a robust combat system that allows gamers to use a wide variety of builds. Players can choose from an extensive list of melee weapons in Elden Ring, including massive greatswords, katanas that add a bleeding effect, spears, and halberds. Some even have their own unique abilities, and the game also offers a diverse selection of equipment for magic builds and ranged combat.

The Golden Order Greatsword and Dark Moon Greatsword are two of the most famous legendary melee weapons in Elden Ring. They require some Strength and Dexterity to wield effectively, but the Golden Order Greatsword also needs 28 Faith, while the Dark Moon Greatsword requires players to have at least 38 Intelligence. At first glance, these two weapons seem unrelated to each other, but carefully going through Elden Ring’s lore reveals a deep connection between them.

A player named MinniMaster15 made a Reddit post showing the descriptions of the two weapons. They have circled a line from each page that seems to indicate that the Golden Order Greatsword is a different version of the Dark Moon Greatsword. The description of the Dark Moon Greatsword states that a Carian queen gave this sword to her spouse, which matches the info on the Golden Order Greatsword, mentioning that it was once a greatsword given to Radagon by his first wife, Rennala.

Many fans are discussing the implications of this reveal and how it affects their understanding of the lore. It looks like Radagon changed the sword to a symbol of the Golden Order after receiving it as a gift from Rennala. Fans are also commenting on how they received the Dark Moon Greatsword from Ranni by putting a ring on her finger at the end of her quest. This lengthy and complicated questline is required to unlock one of Elden Ring’s three main endings. The Golden Order Greatsword, on the other hand, is relatively easy to find as it drops after defeating an optional boss in a late-game area.

Other Reddit users expressed a desire to dual-wield the two weapons, but it may prove difficult due to their requirements, and they will have to be at a high level to do so. Players can dual-wield all the weapons in Elden Ring but they need to be of the same type to use their Power Stance capabilities for bonus damage. Otherwise, they will function like different weapons mapped to each hand.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
