There are a ton of interesting and powerful incantations for players to unlock in Elden Ring. Some of them are pretty easy to find, or can be bought from NPCs, while others are hidden within secret areas or locked behind puzzles. One of the best examples of the latter is Fire's Deadly Sin, a powerful flame-based incantation that is found through a painting hidden deep within Leyendell, Royal Capital.

Those that have yet to unlock the Royal Capital will have to spend some time progressing through the game as the zone is located in the Altus Plateau, which is only accessible by defeating a Magma Wyrm in the Ruin Strewn Precipice or piecing together the Dectus Medallion to ride the Grand Lift of Dectus. Those that have made their way to Leyendell and want to get their hands on the powerful Fire's Deadly Sin incantation in Elden Ring can use the following guide to find it.

Finding The Flightless Bird Painting

The first step in getting the Fire's Deadly Sin incantation is to locate the Flightless Bird Painting. The easiest way to find this painting is by traveling to the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace in Leyndell and exiting the door to the South. From there, players can go down the staircase directly ahead and run down the hallway, turning left at the end of it and jumping off the ledge past the stone columns. This will put players in front of a large building with a wide stone staircase.

Once inside the building, players should head to large arch on the far right and then into the door on the left. Running to the end of this room and opening the door on the right will put players in the chamber with the Flightless Bird Painting. Interacting with the painting will give them access to the "item" for it.

Solving The Flightless Bird Painting Puzzle In Elden Ring

Once players have obtained the item they'll want to travel to the Windmill Heights Site of Grace in the Dominula, Windmill Village, a boss guarded teleport. Those that have yet to make it to the Windmill Village should head to the Outer Wall Battleground Site of Grace and then proceed Northwest along the roadway. There are some trebuchets nearby that line the left side of the roadway and players should be sure to take out the enemies controlling them, so they aren't shot at when proceeding down the road. Players will be able to spot the windmills they are heading towards in the distance and will know they are close to the village when they spot the Highway Lookout Tower. Once they make it into Dominula, Windmill Village, they should proceed through the village all the way to the north to unlock the Windmill Heights Site of Grace.

Elden Ring Up Through Windmill Village

It's important to note that the Windmill Village Site of Grace will not unlock until players take care of the boss prowling the area. Heading up the path and staircases to the top of Dominula, Windmill Village will force players into a fight against the Godskin Apostle. Those that don't wish to tussle with the imposing boss and simply run past him and to the location of the Fire's Deadly Sin. Those that do choose to fight him will be rewarded with his eponymous Twinblade, so it can be worth the struggle. It's advised to keep distance when battling the Godskin Apostle as he is capable fo dishing out tons of damage with his Twinblade. This damage gets even more severe when he goes into a rage at 50 percent health remaining.

From the Windmill Heights Site of Grace, players should head Southeast past a large windmill and towards a medium-sized building off in the distance. Players will know they're in the right place if they spot three dancing NPCs. Heading to the cliffside directly left (South) of the NPCs and building will cause a ghostly apparition to show up. Moving close to it will cause it to disappear and players will be rewarded with the Fire's Deadly Sin incantation.

What Does Fire's Deadly Sin do?

Elden Ring Fires Deadly Sin Working

Fire's Deadly Sin is a powerful incantation that sets the user aflame, igniting the area around them and doing damage over time to both them and any enemies nearby. It requires 19 Faith to use and costs 28 FP each time a player users it. Although it's capable of dishing out decent damage to surrounding enemies (amplified with the correct weapons and talismans), it does cause players to take a decent amount of damage each second. For this reason, it's suggested that players take some sort of heal with them or have an appropriate amount of Crimson Flasks available before activating the incantation.
