Elden Ring doesn't hold players' hands, and only subtly hints at the locations of useful items throughout the Lands Between. Some of these items, like consumables and weapons, aren't necessarily essential for a player's survival. Others, like the Flask of Wondrous Physick, are so useful that it's a wonder they aren't given to players from the very start.

The Flask of Wondrous Physick is, essentially, an Estus Flask with customizable effects. Mixing Wondrous Physick at a Site of Lost Grace gives players a chance to create completely unique one-time-use potions. It doesn't take too long to find the Flask of Wondrous Physick, but to have one from the start of Elden Ring, players have to travel a considerable distance through Limgrave.

The Flask of Wondrous Physick doesn't necessarily have to heal the player or restore stats. In fact, one of the first Crystal Tears players are able to use creates a damage-absorbing shield around them. Up to two Crystal Tears can be added to a Flask of Wondrous Physick at a time, which are combined into one effect.

Crystal Tears vary widely – some restore FP, some increase Stamina recovery, some increase major Attributes like Strength or Faith, and others give totally unique effects like the explosive Ruptured Tear. These Tears are typically found at Minor Erdtrees, sometimes locked behind Erdtree Avatar bosses. To mix a new combination, you need only sit at a Site of Lost Grace and select the "Mix Wondrous Physick" option to bring up your available options.

Where To Find The Flask Of Wondrous Physick

Elden Ring Flask Of Wondrous Physick Location Third Church of Marika Location

The Flask of Wondrous Physick is found in the northeast corner of Limgrave at the Third Church Of Marika. This Church straddles the border between Limgrave and Caelid, and also acts as a convenient fast travel shortcut to the Mistwood to the south. To get to this location from the beginning of the game, head directly east past the Dragon-Burnt Ruins and Lake Agheel until you come to a road atop the short cliffs.

Head north on this road until it slowly declines into a clearing by the Mistwood to the south – you will see a Troll on the road, run around it and continue following the path. After a good few minutes of heading northeast on this road, you will come to the Third Church of Marika, where the Flask of Wondrous Physick, two Crystal Tears, and a Sacred Tear (for improving Flask recovery) can be found on the ground.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
