FromSoftware's titles have long been the source of inspiration for fan artists to show their own interpretations of iconic characters, and Elden Ring has quickly shown to be able to capture the imagination in much the same way. This has recently been the case for artist Risto Hämäläinen, who goes by Perunarehu online and has previously made art of characters like the Tree Sentinel boss as well as older bosses like Gravelord Nito.

While much of Perunarehu's pen-styled art is phenomenal, one piece centered around the Elden Ring character Sir Gideon Ofnir has recently started to go viral online. The piece of fan art itself draws perfectly both on FromSoftware's bleak new world, and the mysterious and dutiful work of Sir Gideon as he continues to study maps and tombs in his study.

As is the case for much of Perunarehu's art, the coloring is black and white, while the style is similar to ink pen artworks that are popular among comic books and manga. However, the viewpoint that the observer is given is twisted on a wide angle that curves Sir Gideon's study in on himself and pushes the character's sense of being drawn into his work. It's an impressive piece to say the least, especially with the way that it so perfectly captures Elden Ring's lore and the characterization of someone like Sir Gideon.

While the character of Sir Gideon Ofnir himself doesn't often see as much fan art as Elden Ring's Ranni the Witch or her companion Blaidd, he has become a fan favorite among lore discussions. Many players also appreciate Sir Gideon for his role as a guide, as he is often the key to understanding how to continue certain questlines across the game. So, this impressive piece of art is well-deserved for a character with a design that lends itself to this stylized type of fan content.

The art and character designs of everything from fellow tarnished to Elden Ring's toughest bosses like Malenia, could be some of the best in FromSoftware's catalog. As a result, many artists like Perunarehu have already quickly jumped to recreating the characters that will likely remain iconic as the developer continues to create future titles inside and outside the universe of the Lands Between. This new domination over gaming and the online art community should be great for fans, and will hopefully be equally kind to these fan artists as they continue to work on related and original content.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
