An Elden Ring player received the perfect welcome from an enemy upon entering a late-game area. Even though some users consider Elden Ring to be more approachable than other FromSoftware titles, it can still be a brutally difficult game, with dangerous enemies and traps hiding in every corner.

Gamers will find that it can be incredibly easy to die in Elden Ring, even to a regular enemy, if they are not paying attention. As an example, one Elden Ring user died to a devastating combo by the Royal Revenant enemy despite being on the verge of victory. Now another gamer shares a clip featuring a memorable encounter with an enemy in one of its late-game areas.

The video uploaded on Reddit shows a player fighting a Cleanrot Knight upon entering Elphael in Elden Ring. The fight takes place right after players enter Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, with the Cleanrot Knight being the first enemy players encounter before resting at its first Site of Grace. The user manages to block a couple of attacks from the enemy, before getting impaled by the spear and subsequently getting inflicted with the Scarlet Rot status effect.

The player only has a sliver of health left, but the Cleanrot Knight is not done yet, as it throws the Reddit poster off the platform, resulting in their death. The user probably would have died from the Scarlet Rot anyway, but the throw makes the whole incident all the more demeaning. The post’s title describes it as a warm welcome to Elphael, which is one of the most difficult legacy dungeons in Elden Ring.

Many users comment on how the player died right next to a Site of Grace, with some players discussing the relatively far-apart grace sites in Elphael. Some fans believe that fewer Sites of Grace add to the challenge, stating that they prefer it to the numerous checkpoints present everywhere in Elden Ring. One gamer also claims to have never seen this area before despite being level 170 in Elden Ring.

It looks like this may not be an isolated incident, as one player claims to have seen similar clips numerous times, all with the Cleanrot Knight throwing gamers off the bridge. The rest of the comments are filled with users sharing stories about the memorable encounters they have had with Cleanrot Knights in Elden Ring, as it seems like players are not fond of this enemy’s move-set.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
