Elden Ring has earned widespread critical acclaim and stands as one of the highest-rated games ever made. However, that doesn't mean it's without flaws. Like most other open world games, Elden Ring launched with some unfortunate bugs that need fixed, including one that makes one of the weaker enemies absurdly powerful.

While exploring Elden Ring's open world, players will come across a wide variety of creatures that are out to kill them. This includes grotesque dog-like creatures, known in-game as Rotten Strays, that are good at dodging attacks and can be quick on offense. Fighting a pack of these dogs can be overwhelming, but compared to some of the other enemies that Elden Ring players encounter in the game, they are otherwise fairly weak overall.

Among the Elden Ring monsters is a bleed variant of this dog creature that pose a more significant threat to the player. In fact, the bleed dogs are capable of killing players with a single attack due to a bug in the game. This was recently illustrated in a viral Reddit clip that shows an Elden Ring player with 62 Vigor being killed in a single hit by one of these dogs. Obviously this isn't supposed to happen, and so fans may be wondering exactly what is going on.

YouTuber Zullie the Witch uploaded a video explaining the situation. Anyone that wants a more in-depth explanation on why exactly this particular Elden Ring glitch is causing these dogs to be so powerful should watch the video, but the gist of it is that the game is basically forgetting that players already took damage from encountering the dog's hitbox, and so it keeps applying damage endlessly.

Since the problem has been identified, Zullie the Witch believes that it should be a "fairly simple thing to patch," though it remains to be seen when a fix may be released. FromSoftware has not publicly acknowledged the issue, and so it may be some time before it's on the developer's radar. That being said, Elden Ring updates have released regularly since the game's launch, and so fans may not have to wait all that long for this problem to be snuffed out.

Elden Ring updates that address bugs and glitches are definitely appreciated by the community, but others may be more interested in more substantial updates. Elden Ring has added new quest phases and even a new NPC in one of its previous updates, so the door is open for FromSoftware to make more meaningful content changes to the game in future patches as well. However, no plans to that effect have been announced at the time of this writing.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
