Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – How To Get The Greatjar Helmet

In Shadow of the Erdtree, the Greatjar helmet is no doubt a bit of a meme item – but it does have its legitimate uses.

Most players know this ability all too well, as all Crucible Knights appear to be able to use it when their HP reaches a certain threshold and launch themselves at the player with golden wings. To learn this awe-inspiring (and deadly) Aspect of the Crucible: Wings skill, follow this guide to find out where to find the new skill and learn, what weapons it can be used on, and other tips for using Aspects of the Crucible: Wings.

Aspects of the Crucible: Wings – Overview & Weapon Types

Shadow of the Erdtree Aspect of the Crucible Wings Item Description

This skill originates from the lifeforms of the Crucible.

Grow a golden pair of wings and take to the air before diving down at the foe, weapon first.

In Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Ash of War: Aspect of the Crucible: Wings is a new Ash of War that grants its equipped weapon the Sacred affinity. The Aspects of the Crucible: Wings weapon types include both Swords and Polearms that are capable of thrusting, though this does not extend to any weapon of the Colossal weapon type.

A highly anticipated ability, when you use this Aspect of the Crucible, you will finally be able to copy one of the Crucible Knights' most iconic abilities. The Tarnished will rise up into the air, gain a set of golden wings, then soar across the battlefield towards their target rapidly. If you use a Twinblade with this Ash of War, your character will spin the Twinblade as you close in on your target.

Where To Find Aspect of the Crucible: Wings Location

Shadow of the Erdtree Deflecting Hardtear Location Scadu Altus Spirit Spring

To get the Aspect of the Crucible: Wings ash of war in the Elden Ring DLC, you must enter the Scadu Altus area via a Sealed Spiritspring that you can reach by heading south after crossing the Ellac Greatbridge toward Castle Ensis. Continue southeast until you see a series of ledges dotted with Bats that lead down into the valley below (on the map, this path is located along the river that leads southeast from Castle Ensis).

If you reach Thiollier, look for the ledges almost directly east.

Once at the bottom, continue southeast until you discover a Sealed Spiritspring near the Elder's Shack. The ghostly Cairne in this Spiritspring will disappear once you find its twin in the real world. Head a little further southeast and look for the twinned Cairne, and strike it to destroy it.

This will unlock the Sealed Spiritspring which launches the Tarnished extremely far upward, directly into the Scadu Altus region, and directly into the Fort of Reprimand. Look for the central execution area with an Omenkiller ominously staring at a body, then for a room on the southeast corner of the outer walkway above.

Almost as soon as you turn to enter the door to this upper level room, the Black Knight Edredd boss will attack – initiating combat with the Aspect of the Crucible: Wings skill itself. The boss may even jump-scare you, as it seems to anticipate the Tarnished walking through its door and will pre-cast this skill so it is already lunging by the time you see it.

Beat Black Knight Edredd to be rewarded with Aspect of the Crucible: Wings, which can then be imbued onto any Thrusting Sword or Thrusting Polearm.
