Players expected there to be a lot of bosses in the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, but few expected just how many would be available for players to tackle in both main and side content. Though the total number of named bosses in the Elden Ring DLC is just about 40, only eleven of them either reward a Remembrance or are of significant enough importance and design quality to be called a major Shadow of the Erdtree boss.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – How To Unlock Spontaneous Guard (Deflecting Hardtear Location)

Finally, the Perfect Block mechanic has made its way to Elden Ring – but to enable it, you need to collect a specific Crystal Tear.

Many of these major bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree are not required to beat the DLC, and instead are found way off the beaten path, often unlocked by enigmatic quests or hidden deep below what looked like an innocuous hole in the ground. This Elden Ring DLC boss list includes all the bosses you must defeat to access and beat the final boss, other optional Remembrance bosses, and one particularly savage Dragon that resides atop the Jagged Peak that does not reward a Remembrance.

This list contains spoilers for all major bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree, including the final Shadow of the Erdtree boss. Do not scroll past Metyr, Mother of Fingers to the Final Boss section if you want to keep this knowledge hidden.

11 Divine Beast Dancing Lion

Location: Belurat, Town Settlement

The first major boss most players will come across in the Realm of Shadow is the Divine Beast Dancing Lion. This fearsome enemy is the final boss of the Belurat, Tower Settlement legacy dungeon, and it sets a high bar that the rest of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC's bosses meet or exceed.

The boss can be tough if you don't find Scadutree Fragment in the Gravesite Plain and beyond. Aim to have a Scadutree Blessing level of around 4 or 5 before taking this boss on to make the entire fight much easier.

The Divine Beast is one of the first main bosses the player will face in the new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Please enjoy this wire-to-wire bout.

How To Get To Divine Beast Dancing Lion

To reach the Divine Beast Dancing Lion location, you must reach the end of the Belurat Tower Settlement dungeon, found in the northwest Gravesite Plain just northwest of the Three Path Cross-site of Grace.

10 Rellana, Twin Moon Knight

Location: Castle Ensis

Rellana, Twin Moon Knight stands guarding one of the main entrances to the Scadu Altus region atop Castle Ensis. This boss has proven to be the bane of many players' experience with Shadow of the Erdtree, but recent balance updates make the fight a little bit easier with more buffs from Scadutree Blessings in the early game.

Shadow of the Erdtree: Rellana, Twin Moon Knight Boss Guide

Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, is a brutal and deadly boss encountered early on in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, so here's how to take her down.

When facing Rellana, she will use her titular Twin Moon attack after her HP reaches lower than 50%, and after she has already phase transitioned. You must jump, then jump, then dodge to avoid the Twin Moon ground blasts and the follow-up magic wave.

How To Get To Rellana, Twin Moon Knight

To reach the Rellana Twin Moon Knight location, you must get to the end of Castle Ensis. Though you can access the Scadu Altus region early, the boss door is sealed from the other side of Castle Ensis.

9 Commander Gaius

Location: Scaduview

After beating Rellana and reaching the Shadow Keep in the northwest of the Realm of Shadow, the path becomes much less linear, and the number of areas to explore and new bosses to take on expands greatly. If you do decide to go to the Shadow Fort, there are no less than three more Remembrance bosses to find and defeat. Commander Gaius is the first many players run into.

The Wild Boar Rider might remind you of fighting Ganon in the Zelda series or perhaps the Gyobu Masataka Oniwa fight from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. He will use a similar move set as a Night's Cavalry with a huge number of his own attacks mixed in – including gravity magic.

How To Get To Commander Gaius

To reach the Commander Gaius location, proceed through the Shadow Keep until you reach the Specimen Storehouse. This dense and layered area will eventually lead you to the Storehouse Loft site of grace. From here, jump and platform across the beams until you find a ladder that will lead you outside. Take the lift down to reach the boss door and a Site of Grace.

8 Scadutree Avatar

Location: Scadutree Base

The Scadutree Avatar is another major boss you can find in the Shadow Keep. This gigantic Shadow Sunflower has one of the most unique boss designs in the game, though its basic move set seems to imitate the Elden Beast in some ways.

You must beat this boss three times to actually defeat it, as it keeps growing and gaining new abilities. Each time it respawns with less HP.

How To Get To Scadutree Avatar

To reach the Scadutree Avatar location, drain the Church District of its water, then look for an elevator leading downward from the now-explorable Church of Marika in the middle of the area. The elevator will lead you to the Scadutree Base boss arena.

7 Putrescent Knight

Location: Stone Coffin Fissure

The Putrescent Knight is said to be a personification of death in the Lands Between and Putrescence from coffins flowing to the Realm of Shadow and sinking into the depths of the Stone Coffin Fissue itself. This congealed and became the Putrescent Knight, which now guards a very special person deep underneath the Cerulean Coast.

Elden Ring: How To Get Mass Of Putrescence Sorcery In Shadow Of The Erdtree

Mass of Putrescence is a new Sorcery in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and this guide details where to acquire this powerful new spell.

The Putrescent Knight is on horseback and is quite nimble, though it will periodically jump off its horse and attack as two separate entities. Pay attention to its horse, and be sure to jump over the waves of Ghostflame that it will blast out.

How To Get To Putrescent Knight

To reach the Putrescent Knight location, you must go deep below the gigantic hole in the ground at the southern tip of the Cerulean Coast. Navigate here, then continue carefully down until you reach what appears to be a gigantic horned statue leaning over the abyss. Jump into the abyss to enter the boss arena.

6 Messmer The Impaler

Location: Shadow Keep

He's the guy from the trailers – Messmer the Impaler, the hidden son of Queen Marika and head of her crusade in the Shadow Realm, serves as one of the final required bosses for the Elden Ring DLC. He lives up to his formidable reputation and serves as one of the most challenging – but not the most unfair – bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Messmer the Impaler was born with a curse like the other children of Marika. When he reveals this curse in Phase Two, take care to avoid his flurry of empowered attacks using this newfound strength – just take care to avoid the snakes.

How To Get To Messmer The Impaler

To reach the Messmer The Impaler location, you must progress practically through the entirety of the Shadow Fort and ascend to the very top of the Specimen Storehouse tower until you reach the Dark Chamber site of grace, just after exiting the tower to a bridge that leads to this area guarded by two Messmer Knights.

5 Romina, Saint of The Bud

Location: Ancient Ruins of Rauh

Romina in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Romina, Saint of the Bud is one of the last bosses that many players take on in the Elden Ring DLC – in fact, Romina is the last 100% required boss you must face before being able to access the final boss. Deep in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, Romina, Saint of the Bud, is a Scarlet Rot-themed boss, and as a result, it can be handy to bring gear with extra Immunity to this fight.

Elden Ring: How to Cure Scarlet Rot

Scarlet Rot is one of the many potent status effects that can do serious harm to Elden Ring players, so it is handy to know how to cure this ailment.

Essentially a woman's body attacked to the middle of a gigantic scorpion-centipede monstrosity, Romina, Saint of the Bud telegraphs attacks and doesn't have any one-shot kills, but it's a good idea to bring Flame, Cleanse Me or Preserving Boluses to the fight to make things easier.

How To Get To Romina, Saint of The Bud

To reach the Romina, Saint of The Bud location, you must reach the southwestern tip of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, which itself can only be accessed through a secret path through the Shadow Keep.

4 Bayle The Dread

Location: Jagged Peak

Though technically not a Remembrance boss, Bayle the Dread is an absolute force of nature that terrorized (and betrayed) Lord Placidusax in the time of the Ancient Dragons. In fact, you can still see two of Placidusax's heads stuck onto the armless body of the Dread Bayle.

Arguably one of the hardest fights in Shadow of the Erdtree, Bayle the Dread attack relentlessly with a number of AoE attacks, and you can't ride Torrent in his arena. However, summon Igon to provide a distraction and some incredible voice acting that might just inspire you to finish the job.

How To Get To Bayle The Dread

To reach the Bayle The Dread location, you must ascent the Jagged Peak in the east of the Realm of Shadow. Enter the Foot Of The Jagged Peak via the Dragon Pit dungeon in Gravesite Plains, then continue up the mountain (and defeat the named Dragon Bosses on the way) to find Bayle at the top.

3 Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame

Location: Abyssal Woods

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Trailer Image

Midra, the Lord of Frenzied Flame is one of the most hyped bosses for a lot of players. An enormous elaboration for the Frenzied Flame lore and representation in the Lands Between, Midra's boss fight is one of the most cinematic and just plain fun in the game. It begins with the Tarnished wailing on the ailing body of Midra, who transitions into a Lord Of Frenzied Flame Elden Ring ending-like boss for his second phase.

This boss might seem unfair, but spend some time learning his attack combos and timings, and you will come out on the other end without being turned to madness. Consider bringing along consumables that increase Focus as well as equipping gear that enhances this stat in particular, as it will reduce Madness buildup.

How To Get To Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame

To reach the Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame location, you must find the Abyssal Woods, a secret area where Torrent won't even come to your side out of fear. The Abyssal Woods can only be accessed by beating Jori, Elder Inquisitor, who can only be found by taking a Coffin hidden below the bridge near the Shadow Keep Main Promenande site of grace.

2 Metyr, Mother of Fingers

Location: Finger Birthing Grounds

Shadow of the Erdtree All Bosses Midra Mother of Fingers

One of the most disturbing and lore-changing bosses in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is surely Metyr, Mother of Fingers. A hidden boss, Metyr is quite literally the mother to all of the Fingers in the world – the Fingercreepers, the Two Fingers, and the Three Fingers, too. It's a terrifying boss to look at for too long, but luckily, by the time most players reach Metyr its move set is actually not too hard to handle.

Watch out for the attacks when they spin in the air and launch toward you, and prepare to dodge at the very last possible moment to avoid damage. Keep on attacking the very front of this monstrosity, and land hits on its head to kill it.

How To Get To Metyr, Mother of Fingers

To reach the Metyr, Mother of Fingers location, you must progress Count Ymir's questline. He will give you an item to use at two locations in the Realm of Shadow and reveal the third location (and the Boss) after you return to him with both of these locations activated.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE ENDING OF THE SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE DLC

1 The Final Boss of Shadow of the Erdtree

Location: Enir-Ilim

The final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree is one that caused a bit of a stir in the Elden Ring fanbase. General Radahn, also known as Starscourge Radahn, was slain during the Radahn Festival after being utterly devastated from the inside out by Malenia's Scarlet Rot. Now, his spirit serves Miquella as the Consort of the New Age thanks to a Vow he made with the young Empyrean.

Indeed, Radahn, Promised Consort (and his second phase Radahn, Consort of Miquella) is the final boss of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. It's arguably the hardest boss fight that FromSoftware has ever designed, and will likely take dozens of attempts to learn the timings and intricate details of how to take on this final foe. Just don't get grabbed by Miquella twice – or you may find yourself under the Kindly God's enchantment.

How To Get To The Final Boss

To reach the final boss of the Elden Ring DLC, you must defeat the Divine Beast, get to the Shadow Fort, defeat Messmer to gain Kindling for the Sealing Tree, and then defeat Romina to burn the Sealing Tree. Then, return to the top of Belurat to enter the Shadow Tower and Enir'Ilim.
