This guide covers all possible routes players can take after this boss fight, including the intended route and hidden routes to new locations. The path blocked by the shadow vines will not unlock until after you’ve progressed through the main story and reached certain milestones.

What to do after Divine Beast Dancing Lion in Shadow of the Erdtree
There are four main paths players can take after the Dancing Lion.
Castle Ensis
Northeast of the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace, where you meet Needle Knight Leda next to Miquella’s Cross, is Ellac Greatbridge. The bridge leads directly to Castle Ensis, the second main area of the DLC, where players will fight Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. Completing this boss fight unlocks the main path to Scadu Altus and allows players to head further inland towards the Shadow Keep, where you’ll need to fight Messmer the Impaler .
Jagged Peak
Follow the road south of Castle Ensis until you reach the Dragon’s Pit cave. Complete the dungeon and defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man boss to access the Jagged Peak area. There are multiple routes players can take here. The path north leads to Bayle the Dread boss fight, whereas the road south leads to Grand Altar of Dragon Communion, Charo’s Hidden Grave, the Cerulean Coast, and the Southern Shore Map Fragment. The entire bottom half of the map becomes accessible via this route.
If you’re planning on taking on Bayle the Dread, talk to the Priestess at the Great Altar first; she gives you a quest that will allow you to transform into a dragon after defeating Bayle.
Scadu Altus
You can also bypass Castle Ensis and head directly to Scadu Altus by unlocking a sealed spiritspring south of the Castle Front Site of Grace. The spiritspring will lead players to an otherwise inaccessible section of the Fort, next to Behind the Fort of Reprimand Site of Grace. Jump down into the Ramparts to reach the main Fort, and use the front door to access Scadu Altus. Just north of the Fort, there will be a fight between some Messmer soldiers and the Ghostflame Dragon. If defeated, the dragon will drop a Dragon Heart and a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Alternatively, you can safely avoid the fight by sticking to the outskirts while riding Torrent.
Ancient Ruins of Rauh
It’s possible to head directly to Ancient Ruins of Rauh from Scadu Altus via a secret path without beating any boss. However, the enemies in this area may be too difficult if you haven’t collected enough Scadutree Fragments. This is an end-game area meant to be taken on after you’ve defeated Messmer in the Shadow Keep.
