Quests in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC continue the tradition of the base game, remaining as confusing as ever. With no markers and no quest log to help players keep track of what's going on, there is very little recourse but to look up a guide.

Igon is an NPC that players will encounter fairly early on in their playthrough south of Castle Ensis. A weak echo of his past self, he is no longer the great Drake Warrior he used to be, having been brought low by the Dragon, Bayle the Dread. His quest involves helping him exact vengeance upon this enemy.

Igon's Questline (Step-by-Step) in Shadow of the Erdtree

Igon's quest can be completed by following the following steps in order.

  • Interact with Igon near the Pillar Path Waypoint until he mentions Bayle.
  • Defeat Ancient Dragon-Man in the Dragon's Pit to open the path to Jagged Peak.
  • Defeat the Jagged Peak Drake and obtain Igon's Furled Finger.
  • Summon Igon during the Bayle the Dread boss fight.
  • Obtain the quest rewards in the Jagged Peak Drake boss arena.

Make sure to pick the Southern Shore Map Fragment to see where you need to go on the map.

Igon's First Location in SOTE

Find the Pillar Path Waypoint by taking the road southeast of Castle Ensis. When visiting this place for the first time, players will hear a moaning cry at the Site of Grace. Look southwest to see Igon lying prone on the road. Rest at the Site of Grace and keep talking to him repeatedly until he mentions Bayle the Dread.

Dragon's Pit Location in SOTE

Take the path southeast, marked by the headless stone dragon statues, until you're invaded by Ancient Dragon-Man. Defeat him and continue onward to the Dragon's Pit (the entrance is a small cave with a fire lit outside).

Clear the dungeon and defeat the Ancient Dragon-Man once more to reach the Dragon's Pit Terminus Site of Grace, unlocking the path to the Jagged Peak.

Consider using the Dragon Hunter's Great Katana (obtained by beating Ancient Dragon-Man) for the fights ahead, as this weapon deals extra damage to dragon-type enemies like Bayle, Drake, and Senessax.

How to Get to Jagged Peak in SOTE (Igon's Second Location)

Head northeast, avoiding the fight with the dragon in the basin until you reach the Foot of the Jagged Peak Site of Grace past the wooden bridge. Just to the southeast, you'll enter a valley where two Jagged Peak Drakes are fighting each other.

After defeating both, you'll hear a laughing cry nearby. This is Igon, and he can be found just past the arena at the entrance to the path leading up the Jagged Peak. Talk to him, and he will beg you to summon him against Bayle the Dread, handing you Igon's Furled Finger.

Proceed eastward past Igon's location and use the spiritsprings to jump up with Torrent. Enter the cavern mouth after the second jump and avoid the boulders to move forward. There is a Scadutree Fragment just underneath where the boulders fall.

Past this room, you'll find the Ancient Dragon Senessax. This is an optional fight that is not required to complete Igon's quest. You can move past him and head up the tunnel with the dragon corpses to reach the Jagged Peak Mountainside Site of Grace.

Follow the rocky path with more dead dragons heading westward until you come across another spiritspring. Continue on the thin path northwest until you come to a rock jutting out over an area you can jump down to.

If you jump down from the cliffhang and turn right, you'll come across a ghostly chair with an NPC, but only if you have the Domain of Dragon Painting (obtainable in the Shadow Keep) in your inventory. The ghost will drop a Rock Heart, an alternative way to transform into a Dragon .

To get to Bayle, jump over to the path south of the cliffhang and hug the left side of the mountainside. Follow the path up, and you'll be able to reach the Jagged Peak Summit Site of Grace. Just ahead is the boss fight against Bayle the Dread.

Remember to pick up the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone before the last spiritspring.

Enter the boss arena and use the golden summon sign just to the right of the entrance to summon Igon to help with the boss fight. Defeat Bayle alongside Igon, and he'll finally be able to satisfy his thirst for vengeance.

Igon's Questline Rewards in SOTE

To find Igon again, head back to the location where you met him previously, past the Jagged Peak Drakes boss arena, southeast of the Foot of the Jagged Peak Site of Grace. You'll find Igon sitting in the same pose as when you left him, only this time he's dead. There is nothing players can do to save Igon; the only ending to this quest is helping him take down his lifelong nemesis, Bayle the Dread. Interact with the body to obtain the following rewards for completing this quest:

Turn in Igon's Bell Bearing to the Twin Maidens Husks to get the ability to buy Igon's Harpoon for 1000 Runes. These function as Greatarrows and can be used with Igon's Greatbow.

Players can kill Igon at any time during his questline and obtain all the rewards listed above. He drops everything when he is killed.
