A pair of Elden Ring players experienced a near death battle unlike any other against an infamous Death Rite Bird. The open world title is no stranger to frustrating enemies, and few are more rage inducing than those in the open world that prove to be a greater challenge than Remembrance bosses. Elden Ring's Death Rite Bird unquestionably fits this categorization, with countless players finding this feral avian to live up to its name.

Big brother to the comparatively cuddly Death Bird, those with Rite for a middle name are any Tarnished's worst nightmare. With an elongated wingspan, additional magic damage and Frostbite status build up, the threat posed by these freakish raptors is immense. Able to attack by sweeping their poker, eat players up with a deformed beak, and one shot with an explosion from dozens of feet away, it is no surprise many have turned to cheesing this annoyance. With Elden Ring patch 1.07, some of the most significant changes post-launch to date were introduced, including widespread buffs to sorcery and incantations, many of which the Death Rite Bird is particularly weak to.

In an image uploaded to Reddit by u/DefCatMusic, two people are pictured celebrating their incalculably narrow victory against the Death Rite Bird found in an Elden Ring late game area, the Mountaintops of the Giants. Replicating the famous Two Soyjaks Pointing internet meme, the pair seem equally surprised and relieved upon acquiring the Death Ritual Spear, the weapon dropped by this particular Death Rite Bird. Studying the game present in the image, viewers will notice a health bar that seems completed depleted. Context provided in the caption informed everyone that the Death Rite Bird's demise left the player character with only 2 health points and no flasks remaining, the primary source of healing for those wandering the Lands Between.

Located west of the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook Site of Grace, many players have found themselves casually riding towards Castle Sol only to see the sky open up and birth this arbiter of dismay. Because of Castle Sol's significance in accessing a secret area known as Miquella's Haligtree, discovering this enemy is quite common.

However, a lesser known and even more difficult version of the Death Rite Bird resides in the far north of the Consecrated Snowfield, a fact that will no doubt bring great joy to Twitch streamer Asmongold, who publicly struggled against the same one brought down by the aforementioned Redditors. Given recent shameful displays of Vigor management in Elden Ring, it is refreshing to see a health bar so well invested into, thus leaving that Tarnished alive to tell the tale.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
