A recent Elden Ring Reddit post went viral after user Nuu111 shared a screenshot of what the Dark Moon Greatsword looks like when viewed through a ghost. Like other FromSoftware games, the "ghosts" players see running around the Elden Ring game world are actually representations of other people who are playing the game, though they are transparent so players can see through them and keep their view of the game world unobstructed.
When looking at the Dark Moon Greatsword through a ghost, the sword actually looks different, with players essentially able to see its decorative markings clearer. It's a rather striking new look for the Dark Moon Greatsword, but it should be noted that it is highly unlikely that this was an intentional feature on the part of FromSoftware. As pointed out by Reddit user Prionysus who commented on the post, this effect is most likely caused by a texture glitch.
Regardless, it seems many think that this particular Elden Ring glitch makes the Dark Moon Greatsword look even cooler. Some may be interested in acquiring the sword for themselves, though they should note that it getting it is one of the more time-consuming things that players can do in the game. The gist of it is that players will need to go through Ranni the Witch's questline to get the Dark Moon Greatsword. The specific location is the Cathedral of Manus Celes, but Elden Ring players can't just make a beeline straight there and get it because it requires quest progress.
This isn't the first interesting detail that Elden Ring players have discovered about the Dark Moon Greatsword. Whereas this texture glitch isn't intentional, though, the connection between the Dark Moon Greatsword and the Golden Order Greatsword does seem to be. Based on the weapon descriptions of both weapons, fans have come to the conclusion that the Golden Order Greatsword is an alternate version of the Dark Moon Greatsword.
There are likely many other hidden details, intentional or no, still left to find in Elden Ring's massive open world, so fans of the game should keep an eye out as they continue exploring the perilous Lands Between.
