Elden Ring features a slew of incantations, consumables, talismans, and other such buffs that players may never see or know about. Unless players scour Elden Ring's Lands Between and all its nooks and crannies for each item, useful strategies could be overlooked or missed completely as players are then left to the devices that they do have access to.

Similarly, many enemies in Elden Ring have exploitable vulnerabilities that, once acknowledged, players can turn to their advantage. Certain cheese tactics have been found by players for different circumstances, such as a cheeky exploit used against Castle Sol's Commander Niall in Elden Ring. But aside from unintended cheese strategies, Elden Ring truly does offer many unique tactics of its own that are baked into its RPG mechanics. One player has recently discovered such a technique that utilizes the game's Crystal Darts.

Explaining Elden Ring's New Burial Watchdogs Strategy

Twitter user @rehvion has shared their discovery of how significant Elden Ring's Crystal Darts can be. In the clip, @rehvion demonstrates that when Crystal Darts are thrown at stone or golem constructs, such as Erdtree Burial Watchdogs, they will become aggressive toward one another and potentially any other enemy or player in their vicinity. This proves especially useful in Rehvion's fight against the "gank boss fight" Erdtree Burial Watchdog duo, who the player effectively makes fight one another while they keep their distance.

However, the Crystal Dart's unique effect may be a surprise to players since it is not explicitly stated anywhere that they can be used to divert enemy aggression. Instead, the Crystal Dart description simply states that they consume FP upon use and deal magic damage. One clue does appear in the description, and reads: "Long ago, it is said that a golem crafter employed a similar crystal tool." But this is the only hint toward their effect on such creatures in Elden Ring as Burial Watchdogs or Fanged Imps, and such discovery would have seemingly needed to be made with experimentation.

Crystal Darts may now be an efficient tool for players who descend into catacombs or dungeons that feature stone constructs, especially when they appear to ambush the player in secluded chambers. Crystal Darts can be crafted with three of Elden Ring's Cracked Crystals each, which are also used to craft Cuckoo Glintstone and Shattershard Arrows once the 11th Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook is purchased from the Nomadic Merchant in Liurnia of the Lakes. Now, with this helpful technique at hand, players may make quick work of golem construct enemies.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
