Invaders can be a hassle in Elden Ring. This can be especially true if they have NPCs that can be used to protect themselves. One player has learned this the hard way, as they try to defeat an invader after they decide to use a merchant's horse as a shield.

Invaders are a staple in FromSoftware titles, one of the main aspects that can make the developer's games difficult. This continues in Elden Ring, with invaders being able to enter the world of another player with the intent to kill them. Depending on what the player is doing, this can become a big hindrance. Especially if the invader decides to use the horse of a merchant as a body shield.

A Redditor by the name of DQC- posted a video showing them chase down an invader in Elden Ring. The clip shows DQC- chase the enemy into the Church of Elleh in Limgrave. As the player starts closing in, the invader makes a move that is both smart yet heinous.

As DQC- comes down on their opponent, the invader reaches Merchant Kale, and begins to use their horse as a shield. The two players dance a bit, with DQC- being careful not to hit the horse. When DQC- finally goes in for the hit, they strike Merchant Kale's horse by accident. As the clip comes to an end, we see the Elden Ring merchant get angry with the player as the invader claims a dubious moral victory.

Some commented that DQC- should not have chased the invader. They state that this is a tactic from older Dark Souls games, and that DQC- should not have taken the bait. Others, however, joke that the invader's actions were "maidenless behavior." One commenter even jokes that it is beyond maidenless, and that it is downright "dung eater material." And then there were those who joked that this would never happen in their game, as they have already killed all the NPCs that can be found.

Not all players are having trouble with invaders. A gamer by the handle TheCriticalGamer met an invader who helped them through a section of Elden Ring. When TheCriticalGamer and their girlfriend were invaded, the invader coaxed the two into following them. The invader then led the players through an entire dungeon, helping them solve all the puzzles and reach the end. According to TheCriticalGamer, they were so dumbfounded that they could not think of anything else for the rest of the day. The player cheered the invader, then let them know they now live rent-free in their head. When dealing with invaders, Elden Ring players can have terrible luck, or amazing fortune.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
