Players are two weeks away from the launch of Elden Ring on February 24th. Fans have high expectations for the upcoming action RPG, as developer From Software no doubt knows. For that reason, it’s good that the company seems to be paying attention to its fans' observations.

During a recent interview, Elden Ring Producer Yasuhiro Kitao talked about what’s changed since the game’s closed beta a few months back. According to him, one of the most significant alterations was substantially redesigning the Elden Ring’s user interface in response to player feedback

GamerBraves caught up with Kitao for an interview about Elden Ring. They covered several topics related to Elden Ring, including the studio’s various last-minute changes. These included redesigning the in-game heads-up display, which beta players criticized for its over-simplicity.

According to Kitao, From Software had already planned to adjust the game’s interface before release. However, player feedback convinced the studio to undertake a much more substantial redesign. Kitao explained that the new design fits Elden Ring’s world and aesthetic much better while also being more pleasant to the eye. He went on to thank the beta players for their comments, saying that the studio was very grateful for their feedback.

Of course, a new HUD isn’t the only change players will notice when the game launches on the 24th. For example, many beta players noticed that Elden Ring’s magic was particularly powerful, to the point that some worried it made the game unbalanced. From Software took those comments to heart and rebalanced Elden Ring’s combat to make melee and projectile weapons more viable. While some might be disappointed to hear that Elden Ring’s magic is being “nerfed,” it’s not quite that simple. According to Kitao, developers were hard at work tweaking both item stats and enemy behaviors to make a greater range of classes and playstyles viable in Elden Ring.

The full interview touched on a variety of other topics. These included hidden areas, stat relocation, the player story experience, From Software’s recent server security problems, and what it was like working with Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin. Kitao assured fans that the studio resolved the server issues and that players shouldn’t encounter similar problems when Elden Ring launches later this month. He also confirmed that players could reset their stats and change their character’s appearance mid-game, as they could in Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3.

Elden Ring will also feature multiple hidden levels, though they work very differently from in Dark Souls 3. Kitao didn’t go into much detail but hinted that the game has some “nice surprises” for players who manage to find them. Fortunately, players won’t have to wait too much longer to go secret hunting in From Software’s upcoming action RPG.

Elden Ring releases February 25, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
