From Software are well known for their boss fights. Titles such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne, and more recently, Armored Core, live and breathe the challenge of battle. With 238 bosses scattered throughout Elden Ring, the game is an impressive gauntlet of encounters for players to test their skills on.

While many of the boss fights in Elden Ring are extremely challenging, there are a few that should have been a tougher challenge when considering the lore and setting of the fights. The line between a boss being too hard or too easy is a thin one and getting it right is a challenge for any developer. Many of these bosses, while fun to take on, should have been a bigger hurdle to jump for players.

Not all Elden Ring bosses are created equal; here are the easiest ones that players can take on.

10 Erdtree Avatar

Avatars of the Erdtree Should Put Up A Better FightErdtree Avatar

  • Location: Found in multiple areas

These bosses are a common encounter throughout the game and guard the various Minor Erdtrees found in The Lands Between. These fights can vary in difficulty as players progress, with the Putrid Avatar variety being a tougher version found later in the game.

They may be minor boss encounters, but as guardians of Erdtrees, facing off against these enemies should be tougher. Erdtrees are the most sacred living things in the Lore, with the main Erdtree being the central idol over everything in the game. As avatars that represent the Erdtree, fighting them should be no small task. Once players have defeated one, the rest will cause little to no challenge.

9 Dragonkin Soldier Of Nokstella

A Cool Looking Boss With Predictable Attacks And Not Enough Health

Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella
  • Location: Ainsel River

Dragonkin can be found in various locations throughout the game, but out of all these minor boss encounters, The Dragonkin Soldier Of Nokstella is the most notable. Players will encounter this boss deep underground at the end of the Ainsel River, below Nokstella. The boss arena is one of the most memorable in the game and one of the most mysterious as well.

With strange statues littering the area and a giant throne bearing a mysterious skeleton as the centerpiece, the arena has all the hallmarks of a major encounter. While Dragonkin Soldier Of Nokstella is an impressive spectacle fight, the boss can be beaten easily with its small health pool and easily avoided attacks.

8 The Red Wolf of Radagon

Its Attacks Are Too Easy To Dodge

Red Wolf of Radagon about to swing a magical sword in Elden Ring
  • Location: The Academy of Raya Lucaria

The Red Wolf of Radagon is a boss that can be found partway through a legacy dungeon, in a lecture hall in Raya Lucaria. The fight is almost unexpected when exploring the academy and is over all too quickly. The Red Wolf has a small health pool and fires various spells at the player that are easily dodged.

Elden Ring's rich and vast world hides many hidden secrets for fans to discover. Here's which ones players may have missed.

This fight is notable as it is very reminiscent of other boss fights in Fromsoftware history, most notably Sif in the first Dark Souls game. As a boss battle in a main legacy dungeon, this had the potential to be a major fight, much like Margit in Stormveil Castle. Unfortunately, The Red Wolf is easily beaten, making the encounter a quick side note in the game.

7 Leonine Misbegotten

The Location Is Epic, The Boss Is Mundane

Leonine Misbegotten
  • Location: Castle Morne

Leonine Misbegotten is the final boss in the Weeping Peninsula area of the game. After traversing the region, players will come to Castle Morne. Although this location isn’t a full legacy dungeon, the castle is large and will take time to fully explore. At the end of the castle, players will encounter Leonine Misbegotten on a lonely beach waiting for the player.

The boss is a fast attacking threat but has a small health pool in comparison to many bosses. Considering the stunning location of the fight, and as the final boss of the area, the encounter should have been tougher and would have been more suited as a difficult minor dungeon boss fight.

6 Ancestor Spirit

For Such An Iconic Boss, The Attacks Shouldn't Be So Predictable

Ancestor Spirit
  • Location: Siofra River

One of the eeriest and most atmospheric boss fights in Elden Ring, players will meet the Ancestor Spirit after venturing underneath the main map and finding the Siofra River area. After lighting several fires, players can transport themselves to the underground grotto of the boss.

Some of the best weapons in Elden Ring can scale high enough to make defeating even the late-game bosses feel like a walk in the park.

Ancestor Spirit is one of the easiest main fights in the game and most players will have little problem with the encounter. The boss has several attacks that are well-telegraphed and can be easily avoided. For a boss fight that oozes this much character, defeating the Ancestor Spirit should have been a bigger prospect.

5 Royal Knight Loretta

A Forgettable Boss Fight In An Otherwise Dangerous Castle

Royal Knight Loretta
  • Location: Caria Manor

This spectral rider is the final boss encounter of Caria Manor, a large castle in the Liurnia Of The Lakes region. After players have fully explored, taking on various enemies and looting every corner, they will come to a large open arena where they will face the boss.

Caria Manor is a challenge and has many dangerous enemies players will need to fight through first. It has significance in the lore and is needed to progress through several storylines. The final boss of the castle, Royal Knight Loretta, is a little disappointing. With such an evocative arena and challenging castle beforehand, the battle should have been harder. Unfortunately, the boss is an easier version of a late-game battle and is somewhat forgettable.

4 Ancient Dragon Lansseax

Despite Being An Ancient Dragon, Lansseax Is Too Similar To Other Dragons

Ancient Dragon
  • Location: Atlus Plateau

One of the first encounters players will have when reaching the Altus Plateau after the Rock-Strewn Precipice route is with Ancient Dragon Lansseax. This impressive-looking dragon can control red lightning, has white stone scales, and looks seriously imposing. This first battle will only last a short while before the boss disappears.

Combat can be hard to master in Elden Ring, but these tips should help any player in their next challenging fight.

Round two is later in the region and is when the fight starts properly. Lansseax can be tough, with her various lightning attacks as well as fire breathing. A wrong move can cause a quick death. But overall, the fight won’t cause players too much grief beyond the other common dragon fights. Considering Lansseax is an Ancient Dragon, meeting one in battle should be a grander fight that matches the strength of the legendary foe.

3 Lichdragon Fortissax

The Visuals Are Amazing, But The Boss Wasn't

Lichdragon
  • Location: Deeproot Depths

The brother of Lansseax, Lichdragon Fortissax is the final boss in Fia’s storyline and is a huge black-scaled dragon with four wings. Met after entering into the deathbed dream, the fight is one of the most visually impressive in Fromsoftware’s history but can be over all too quickly.

Fortissax was corrupted by Deathblight after his friend Godwyn the Golden was killed. Fortissax spews Deathblight around the boss arena and controls red lightning that sticks to the player throughout the fight. The battle is no walk in the park, but much like the other Ancient Dragon fight in the game, it should have been a bigger hurdle for players that matches the epic visuals of the fight.

2 Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon

A Major Lore Character That Should Be A Bigger Threat Than She Was

Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon in Elden Ring
  • Location: The Academy of Raya Lucaria

The second major legacy dungeon players will come across is The Academy Of Raya Lucaria. This sprawling castle is home to many of the magic users in the game and is a major story location in Elden Ring.

At the end of the academy, players will face off against Rennala, another central figure within the lore of Elden Ring. The first phase of the encounter isn’t a fight at all, and if players can avoid her one big attack spell in the second phase, players will find victory easily. The fight has all the spectacle a major boss battle should have but is let down by how easily Rennala can be hurt.

1 Godrick The Grafted

The Final Boss Of A Legacy Dungeon Should Provide More Challenge

Godrick The Grafted
  • Location: Stormveil Castle

The first major story boss of Elden Ring is Godrick The Grafted, who upon defeat will drop the first Great Rune players will need to complete the game. Godrick is a main character within the lore and a feared tyrant of the region. The battle is set within a dramatic arena and is a well-designed and memorable fight, with plenty of varied attacks to learn.

As the final boss of the region and legacy dungeon, players will have little trouble overcoming Godrick. By this point in the game, players would have already beaten Margit, The Fell Omen, and various bosses around Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula. Godrick could have been a bigger challenge for players at this point and a major hurdle to overcome.
