There’s no doubt that Elden Ring has taken over the current gaming atmosphere, with posts and discussions about the latest FromSoftware RPG appearing everywhere. Indeed, many are discussing Elden Ring as a potential Game of the Year contender, and the year is not even halfway over quite yet. Many are playing through it and still suffering through boss after boss, including the popular YouTub streamer Dr Disrespect.

Dr Disrespect is more known for his FPS streamers, but the two-time champion has been streaming Elden Ring for the past few days. The first stream, after six hours, saw Dr Disrespect rage quit Elden Ring after throwing a controller. He has returned in a few streams since, however, which is a good sign that the Doc likes the game—despite some of his criticisms of it. Now, a gameplay clip shows Doc do something that feels good in any Souls game: defeat a boss without getting a single hit.

The clip, as seen below, sees the Doc go against the Ancient Hero of Zalmor, an optional sword-wielding boss who uses Frostbite. Ancient Hero of Zalmor can be found in the Weeping Evergoal, near the Fourth Church of Marika, as well as the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave. This isn’t one of the demigod-level bosses, like Godrick the Grafted, but it is a field boss which is still mightily impressive. Relevant portion is seen around the 2:44:00-minute mark below.

Throughout the Elden Ring clip, players can see the Doc’s assault on the Ancient Hero. He manages to deal a lot of damage quite early, prompting him to say, “absolute perfect start” in a controlled tone. After he gets the enemy to about 20% of its health left, he says it again with a little more energy; as he defeats the boss, he yells it again, stands up, and screams, “let’s GOOOO!”

The absolute pop-off is heartwarming to see, and really, beating any boss in Elden Ring without taking so much as a single hit is an achievement. Elden Ring director Miyazaki wants death to be enjoyable, and many see the game’s bosses, death, and defeat as an encouragement to continue on and not give up. That’s partially why they are so hard, and so this is about the best achievement someone can get against an Elden Ring boss.

In fact, it’s quite the achievement that there are streamers out there who have beaten every Souls game without taking a single hit. That hasn’t obviously happened with Elden Ring yet, but it’ll be interesting to see if and when anyone accomplishes this feat.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
