Boc the Seamster is a very handy person to know in Elden Ring, being skilled at altering clothing, allowing players to modify the appearance, weight, and stats of certain items to a limited degree. Elden Ring features a vast array of clothing items, from flowing robes to shining steel, and Boc can help players get even more out of their chosen garments.
Finding Boc in Limgrave
Meeting Boc for the first time will require players to locate a tree in Limgrave that speaks when the player is close to it. It can be found just northeast of the big telescope, which can be found to the east of the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace (the tree's location is also marked in red on the map above).
Attacking or rolling into the tree will reveal it to actually be a Demihuman. This is Boc, and speaking with him a few times will reveal that he was rather unfortunately turned into a tree after being cast out of his home. He hands the player ten mushrooms and promises a better reward once he can return home to retrieve something more valuable.
The Coastal Cave
Boc will appear next at the Coastal Cave, an optional location on the shore to the west of Limgrave, directly west from where the player first enters the open world (marked in red on the map). Boc can be found lying injured near the cave entrance and asks the player to leave before they get hurt too. Ignore Boc's warning and venture into the cave, facing off against the Demi-Human Chief boss fight.
Besting this boss (which can be made easier by calling on the NPC summon outside the boss door, and by using stealth and the available bushes to approach the enemy without being seen) allows players to retrieve the sewing needle and tailoring tools (the Tailoring tools allow players to adjust their clothes themselves at the cost of 500 souls per adjustment).
Return the sewing needle to Boc and exhaust his dialog, which will cause him to leave the cave once the player rests at a Site of Grace or otherwise causes the world to update.
Boc the Seamster
After completing the steps mentioned above, Boc can be found in the following locations, where he will adjust the player's clothes for free:
- Lake Facing Cliffs Site of Grace, in Liurna of the Lakes, next to the entrance to Stillwater Cave. (He seems to sometimes vanish, but is usually there in the morning and the evening)
- East Raya Lucaria Site of Grace, in Liurna of the Lakes (The Southwest most point of Bellum Road)
- Altus Highway Junction Site of Grace, on the Altus Plateau.
- East Capital Rampart Site of Grace, in Leyndell, the Divine Capital.
Meeting him at the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace will cause him to discuss the Erdtree. Players can gift him the Gold Sewing Needle at this point (which is found at the Church of Vows in Liurna of the Lakes, inside a chest), unlocking customization for some armor sets originally worn by bosses. Boc will continue to offer all his services here.
Boc the Reborn
If the player possesses a Larval Tear (found in various places throughout the game world and used to respec character stats) and has beaten Rennala in Raya Lucaria Academy, they may give a Larval Tear to Boc to allow him to be reborn. Doing so will cause him to appear as a human in the Grand Library of Raya Lucaria Academy, near Rennala. He does not respond to the player and will die the next time the world is reloaded.
Boc Lives on
Players wishing to spare Boc his unfortunate fate can instead use the "You're Beautiful" Prattling Pate item in front of him, triggering new dialog and causing him to drop the topic of being reborn.
