Highlights

  • Infusing weapons in Elden Ring can increase their power and usability, making them essential for progressing through the game effectively.
  • The Nagakiba katana and Gargoyle's Halberd are strong weapons that can be obtained through specific quests and boss fights, offering unique advantages.
  • The Claymore, Scavenger's Curved Sword, and Nightrider Glaive are powerful weapons suited for different playstyles and builds, providing versatility in combat.

Weapons are one of the biggest and main factors in FromSoftware's titles, with their entire games revolving around players defeating enemies and bosses to continue their playthrough. And unless a player is doing a crazy challenge where they progress in the game by alternative extraneous means, utilizing weapons is the most important element.

Elden Ring: Weapons That Can Melt Boss Health Bars

Some of the best weapons in Elden Ring can scale high enough to make defeating even the late-game bosses feel like a walk in the park.

While it depends on what weapons suit a build, various weapons in Elden Ring can also be infused to increase their usability and power. Some weapons are already extremely powerful on their own, but can turn into stronger variants via infusions. Infusing a weapon is one of the best strategies to advance through the game, and should be done with any weapons that allow it.

The Uchigatana may get more attention than the Nagakiba, but it is still a very good weapon that can be infused. To obtain the Nagakiba, Bloody Finger Hunter Yura's quest must be completed, in which he will drop the sword.

What makes the Nagakiba strong is obviously its versatility with Ashes of War, but it is also an extremely long sword, able to reach enemies that some other katanas can't. It also deals inherent bleed damage as it is a katana, allowing for quick and efficient enemy defeats.

7 Gargoyle's Halberd

An Underrated Strength Weapon

The Gargoyle's Halberd is a surprisingly powerful weapon, especially for strength builds. Other strength weapons, such as the Greatsword or Prelate's Inferno Crozier, might get more attention, but the Gargoyle's Halberd can reach an S in strength scaling when infused as a heavy weapon.

The only con that comes with this weapon is obtaining it, having to fight one of the Gargoyles in Leyndell. The Valiant Gargoyles boss fight is regarded as one of the worst in Elden Ring, and while players will only have to fight one Gargoyle for the weapon, it can still be a frustrating experience.

The Claymore has always been a staple in the Dark Souls series, and Elden Ring features the sword once more. It can be obtained early into the game at Castle Morne and can stay with a player for a while.

Aside from its versatility with infusions, the Claymore is able to execute some thrust attacks, which is especially good in PvP as it can catch other players off-guard. It might not be the most flashy or magical weapon, but it is a pillar of reliability that will prove its worth throughout the game.

When considering a bleed build, weapons such as Eleonora's Poleblade and Rivers of Blood are the standard options. However, the Scavenger's Curved Sword is an underdog weapon, able to also tear through enemies with ease.

Elden Ring: The Best Blood Weapons

Blood weapons are quite powerful in Elden Ring, and the Tarnished has a few great options to choose from for their build.

On top of its power, it can also be infused, unlike most other go-to bleed weapons. Aside from its presence in bleed builds, it can also be adequately used in a dexterity playthrough, as is the case with most bleed weapons.

The Black Knight Halberd was one of the best weapons in the first Dark Souls. The Nightrider Glaive continues that tradition by being an incredible weapon for strength builds in Elden Ring.

When infused as a heavy weapon, the Nightrider Glaive gets an S in strength scaling, on top of its versatility with multiple Ashes of War. Given the name and its appearance, the weapon drops off a Night's Cavalry in Liurnia, who also look similar to the Black Knights from Dark Souls.

The Greatsword is perhaps the most iconic strength weapon in Elden Ring, and its stats can back it up. Not only is it a great weapon for dealing damage in general, but it can also gain a very high strength scaling when infused correctly.

The Greatsword's moveset is also powerful, consisting of basic heavy swings for most combos but with a thrusting attack when the player crouches. Its popularity and versatility with infusions additionally allow for some unique builds whenever a regular strength build gets boring.

2 Giant-Crusher

The Heaviest Hitting Weapon In The Game

Most of the time, strength weapons are the ones that are able to hit the hardest in a single strike. Elden Ring proves this is no different with the Giant-Crusher, which can reach an absurd level of Attack Rating that can easily take a good chunk of health out of a boss.

Of course, being one of the best choices for a strength build, the hammer should be infused as a heavy weapon to achieve an S with its scaling. However, its status as a stone hammer isn't just for show, as it requires a strength stat of 60 to wield, although two-handing it will allow players to use it at a little bit of a lower level.

The Uchigatana is one of the most well-known weapons in FromSoft's game, with its incarnation in Elden Ring further proving how valuable it is. Useful for dexterity playthroughs, it can also be used on numerous other builds due to its extreme versatility.
