Elden Ring: 10 Best Poison Weapons, Ranked
Poison weapons are massively important tools in Elden Ring and these are the best of the lot.
Whether players want to with a sword that causes bleeding or a bow with various types of arrows, people can play the way they want. Fire damage can be rather effective in Elden Ring, so for players who prefer to watch the world and/or anything standing in front of them burn, it's good to have an understanding of the best Fire-damaging options that can be acquired in the Lands Between.
Updated June 18, 2024 by Vlad Mazanko: In preparation for the imminent release of Shadow of the Erdtree, it is recommended to fine-tune one's builds in Elden Ring to prepare for all the new challenges awaiting all Tarnished.
Fire damage is one of Elden Ring's most useful damage types, so it makes perfect sense to consider weapons that naturally have it and obtain the most powerful variations available so far. This list has been updated to include even more weapons with additional Fire damage, as well as the most powerful Weapon Skills with Fire.
12 Devourer's Scepter
Not The Greatest For Damage, But Has A Nasty Trick Up Its Sleeve
Weight | 11.5 |
Min scaling | Str - D; Dex - D; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - C; Dex - C; Fai - C |
Default damage | 112+69 |
Max damage | 274+169 |
This heavy-weight Great Hammer is ideal for crushing enemy armor while dealing Fire damage with each strike. Its major advantages include long range, solid scaling, and a relatively quick one-handed move set that can catch enemies off guard. The Skill, Devourer of Worlds, isn't the most powerful in terms of sheer damage but allows players to restore HP, especially when multiple enemies are nearby. It's noteworthy for having the longest range of any life-leeching ability, which can be quite useful when fighting certain bosses.
The Devourer's Scepter is dropped by Recusant Bernahl when defeated in Crumbling Farum Azula during his invasion. Alternatively, you can also fight Knight Bernahl earlier at Warmaster's Shack in Stormhill.
11 Vyke's War Spear
Fire Explosions And Madness Buildup In One Stylish Package
Weight | 8.0 |
Min scaling | Str - E; Dex - C; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - D; Dex - B; Fai - C |
Default damage | 103+66 |
Max damage | 252+161 |
Vyke's War Spear is a solid choice for prioritizing Fire damage, especially for high Dexterity builds or Faith hybrids. However, it's not just the Fire damage that makes this weapon stand out; this spear also causes moderate Madness buildup with each strike. Its Ash of War, Frenzyflame Thrust, deals great Fire explosion damage and inflicts madness as well. Be cautious, though, as it inflicts madness not only on enemies but on the wielder as well.
This unique weapon is dropped by Festering Fingerprint Vyke, who invades players in the northeast part of Liurnia of the Lakes, on the way to the Church of Inhibition.
10 Cranial Vessel Candlestand
Who Ordered A Fireball Rain From The Sky?
Weight | 12.5 |
Min scaling | Str - D; Dex - E; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - B; Dex - D; Fai - B |
Default damage | 98+98 |
Max damage | 240+240 |
The Cranial Vessel Candlestand is a really fun Fire Great Hammer to use, due to its unique look and spectacular Weapon Skill. Surge of Faith allows players to become a deadly Fire Worshipper, raining down giant fireballs over a formidable range. For some bosses, such as the nasty Tree Spirits, just a couple of well-placed fire rains should be enough to put them out of their misery.
Elden Ring: 17 Best Cold Weapons, Ranked
Players looking to dish out Cold damage in Elden Ring may be interested in these valuable weapons.
While this hammer has great range and damage, it is suitable only for high-strength builds. On the bright side, players won't need to grind for this weapon, as it is found on a corpse in the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave located in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
9 Magma Blade
One Of The Rarest Drops In The Game, But More Than Worth It
Weight | 4.0 |
Min scaling | Str - D; Dex - D; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - C; Dex - D; Fai - C |
Default damage | 96+62 |
Max damage | 235+151 |
The Magma Blade is a great weapon for Strength-Faith hybrids, dealing additional Fire damage while possessing the swift Curved Sword move set. The standout feature is its Weapon Skill, Magma Shower, which allows players to deal Fire damage with ranged lava splashes, hitting multiple surrounding targets. It's very powerful, albeit FP-expensive, and looks cool, too.
The only major downside of this weapon is its rarity, as it only drops from Man-Serpent enemies wielding this blade at Volcano Manor. Naturally, it has a very small chance to drop, so be prepared to grind if looking to wield two of these.
8 Grafted Dragon
Wield A Fire-Breathing Dragon Head In Combat
Weight | 2.5 |
Min scaling | Str - D; Dex - D; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - C; Dex - D; Fai - D |
Default damage | 89+57 |
Max damage | 218+139 |
The Grafted Dragon is a Fist weapon that players get when trading the Remembrance of the Grafted item with Enia in Roundtable Hold. This remembrance is a reward for taking down Stormveil Castle's main boss, Godrick the Grafted.
Fist weapons in general are a bit more cumbersome and risky than other weapons in Elden Ring, but the Grafted Dragon is so unique it's worth checking out at least once. Its skill, called Bear Witness!, has the player drag the dragon's head to the ground before hoisting it into the air where it rains down a volley of firebombs in a cascading blanket in front of the player. It's hard to find a cooler feeling than wielding a literal dragon head like a sock puppet of sorts.
7 Magma Wyrm's Scalesword
Great Fire Damage And Pretty Fast Strong Attacks
Weight | 15.0 |
Min scaling | Str - C; Dex - D; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - B; Dex - D; Fai - B |
Default damage | 114+74 |
Max damage | 279+181 |
Elden Ring is filled with plenty of hand-crafted and well-thought-out details that make the world come alive. Designers did a good job at making weapons dropped by bosses reflect the type of things one would expect to be associated with said boss. The Magma Wyrm's Scalesword is a perfect example.
Elden Ring: Hardest Armor To Unlock
Elden Ring offers players plenty of armor to protect themselves, but some pieces are harder to track down than others.
This weapon looks like a chunk that's been ripped out of the giant wyrm when players take down Magma Wyrm Makar in the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, located in the northern area of Liurnia of the Lakes. In addition to the base Fire damage it inflicts, its weapon skill Magma Guillotine unleashes a splash down of magma damage after the player lunges forward while dual-wielding the massive Curved Greatsword.
6 Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear
A Worthy Reward For Taking Down The Final Obstacle Before The Expansion
Weight | 10.0 |
Min scaling | Str - D; Dex - E; Arc - D |
Max scaling | Str - C; Dex - D; Arc - C |
Default damage | 96+62 |
Max damage | 235+151 |
Fire damage in the world of Elden Ring is usually associated with specific beasts or magical blades of some sort, but it's rarely thought of as the type of elements attached to spears. Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear breaks the mold in this way as the Great Spear comes packed with additional Fire damage at its base.
Builds focused on Strength, Dexterity, and Arcane will see the biggest scaling benefit when wielding this trident of sorts. Anyone wishing to obtain it will need to overcome Mohg, Lord of Blood, a rather tough boss that you have to defeat in Elden Ring to progress into Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
5 Godslayer's Greatsword
Devastating Weapon Skill And Unforgettable Looks
Weight | 17.5 |
Min scaling | Str - D; Dex - D; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - D; Dex - B; Fai - C |
Default damage | 119+77 |
Max damage | 291+188 |
A weapon named Godslayer's Greatsword feels like a weapon meant for the ultimate combatants. This Colossal Sword can be found in a chest after defeating Godskin Apostle in the Divine Tower of Caelid, meaning FromSoftware wanted players to work hard for this reward.
This god-slaying weapon has really impressive damage values at its base, which go significantly higher once upgraded. It also offers a solid Desterity and Faith scaling. That's not even considering its built-in skill, The Queen's Black Flame. This move imbues the colossal sword with a black flame, followed by a devastating slash that flows into a combination attack.
4 Rivers Of Blood
True To Its Name
Weight | 6.5 |
Min scaling | Str - E; Dex - D; Arc - D |
Max scaling | Str - E; Dex - B; Arc - D |
Default damage | 76+76 |
Max damage | 186+186 |
Rivers of Blood sounds like a weapon known for causing Blood loss buildup, but it also happens to inflict a solid amount of Fire damage. This Katana scales best with builds centered on Arcane, Dexterity, and Strength. It's best for players who like to engage in combat at close to mid-range.
Elden Ring: 8 Most Beautiful Locations
The Lands Between may be perilous, but Elden Ring is home to some stunning sights.
By killing Bloody Finger Okina near the Church of Repose, players will gain access to the Katana and can see why it earned its name. The skill, Corpse Piler, is unique to Rivers of Blood. When activated, it showcases a bevy of attacks that release a stream of blood from the blade as it slices through the air.
3 Blasphemous Blade
A Menacing Life-Leech Weapon With Great Damage
Weight | 13.5 |
Min scaling | Str - D; Dex - D; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - C; Dex - C; Fai - B |
Default damage | 121+78 |
Max damage | 296+191 |
By now people have likely seen the Blasphemous Blade pop up on a list documenting Easter eggs in Elden Ring, but the Greatsword is much more than a shoutout to the beloved Souls-like indie game Blasphemous. In addition to its ability to critically strike enemies, it comes with a skill called Taker's Flames. When used, this skill covers the blade in flames and will steal health from any living thing it touches.
From both a visual and effective perspective the Blasphemous Blade earns its spot as more than just a clever Easter egg. Obtaining it simply requires giving Enia at the Roundtable Hold the Remembrance of the Blasphemous, which is gained by defeating the boss Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy in Mt. Gelmir.
2 Eleonora's Poleblade
Capable Of Taking Down The Toughest Foes With Deadly Spinning Combo Attacks
Weight | 6.0 |
Min scaling | Str - E; Dex - D; Arc - D |
Max scaling | Str - E; Dex - C; Arc - D |
Default damage | 72+72 |
Max damage | 176+176 |
As with most weapons in Elden Ring, Eleonora's Poleblade scales best with a specific set of attributes. Specifically, players making a build centered on Dexterity and Arcane will get the most out of the Fire-damaging Twinblade.
This weapon isn't too hard to get ahold of, as it happens to be a boss weapon drop for anyone who defeats Eleonora, Violet Bloody Finger in the Second Church of Marika. In addition to it connecting for Fire damage upon landing, these Twinblades also cause Blood loss buildup, which can quickly put enemies on their back foot as they're inflicted with several different things with every strike.
1 Sword Of Night And Flame
A Unique Weapon Boasting Two Types Of Elemental Damage
Weight | 4.0 |
Min scaling | Str - E; Dex - E; Int - D; Fai - D |
Max scaling | Str - D; Dex - D; Int - B; Fai - B |
Default damage | 87+56+56 |
Max damage | 213+137+137 |
With a name like Sword of Night and Flame, this weapon has to hold its own in Elden Ring. Thankfully, the fact that it sounds like a powerful card from Magic: The Gathering is more than just a naming choice. Not only does this Straight Sword inflict Fire damage, but it deals out magical damage in equal measure. The fact that it has such a low carrying weight makes it feel like a cheat code of sorts.
Players looking to get their hands on this sword will need to gain access to a locked room in Caria Manor. A bit of exploration and traversal on the grounds will result in the acquisition of arguably the coolest themed weapon in all of Elden Ring.
