Its in-game lore hints at some form of loss or regret, stating “While the Tarnished left the Lands Between with their Lord, one boat alone was said to have been left behind.” The Rusted Anchor may not be a go-to weapon for many, but it’s undoubtedly one of the most memorable in the game. Players will find the anchor in the Morne Tunnel after defeating the Scaly Misbegotten mini-boss.

8 Rivers Of Blood

Split The Air With Slashes Of Blood

  • Weapon Skill: Corpse Piler
  • Requires: Str 12, Dex 18, Arc 20

Rivers of Blood is one of the most notorious armaments in the game. Its powerful weapon skill and bleed effect can make it a very overpowered Katana. However, this sword isn’t only powerful. The entire blade drips red with blood, making the sword instantly recognizable. According to lore, it has felled countless men and was cursed by Mohg. While not as ornate as other weapons, this intimidating Katana easily stands out as one of the coolest swords in Elden Ring.

Players will find the weapon in the Church of Repose in the Mountaintop of the Giants region. Here, they will be invaded by Bloody Finger Okina , who drops the weapon upon defeat.

The Ornate Weapon Of The Gloam-Eyed Queen

Many players may miss the sword altogether, as it is located at the end of the Divine Tower of Caelid, which can be tricky to access. Players will find the sword after defeating the Godskin Apostle (Divine Tower of Caelid) mini-boss and opening the chest beyond. While the sword requires points in strength, dexterity, and faith, the Godslayer's Greatsword is a solid choice that deals a good amount of damage and is one of the coolest large swords in Elden Ring.

6 Grafted Blade Greatsword

A Fitting Tribute To A Classic Fantasy Series

  • Weapon Skill: Oath of Vengeance
  • Requires: Str 40, Dex 14

The Grafted Blade Greatsword is one of the heaviest weapons in Elden Ring and deals high damage. This colossal sword was forged from the weapons of an entire clan by a lone surviving champion and is essentially a sword made of swords. While the in-game lore tells players its origin, in reality, the weapon is a fitting tribute to George R. R. Martin and the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones. The famous writer played a pivotal role in the early stages of Elden Ring, laying down much of the groundwork for the entire setting.

Players are rewarded with this weapon after completing Castle Morne and defeating Leonine Misbegotten at the dungeon’s end. While the weapon can be found early in the game, its heavy strength requirements mean it is likely to be used much later.

5 Sword Of Milo

A Sinister Weapon With A Tragic Origin

  • Weapon Skill: Shriek of Milos
  • Requires: Str 15, Dex 19

While some weapons in Elden Ring are cool for their stylish design, others have a more sinister nature. The Sword of Milos was created using a giant’s backbone, with the in-game lore stating, “Milos was undersized for a giant and was viewed as sullied and terribly grotesque.” This hints at the tragic story behind this effective greatsword.

The sword is a powerful dexterity-based weapon that can cause blood loss build-up on enemies. In addition, the Sword of Milos restores a small amount of FP every time an enemy is defeated. This disturbing weapon can be acquired by killing the Dung Eater in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds or Capital Outskirts moat.

4 Wing Of Astel

Infused With The Power Of The Stars

Elden Ring player holding the Wing of Astel with a ceiling looking like the night sky in the background
  • Weapon Skill: Nebula
  • Requires: Str 7, Dex 17, Int 20

The Wing of Astel is a unique and effective weapon ideally used for Dexterity and Intelligence characters. The in-game lore states the weapon was “Crafted from a relic of the Naturalborn of the Void who is said to have assailed the Eternal City.” With its colorful wing blade that slices through the air with a distinctive ring, the weapon is unlike anything else in the game.

In addition to looking really cool, the weapon inflicts extra damage against gravity-based enemies and has a powerful weapon skill and a useful ranged attack. Being close to Astel also increases the power of the Curved Sword. Players will find the weapon in a chest at the top of the Uhl Palace Ruins, accessed from the northern section of the Ainsel River.

3 Golden Epitaph

A Stunningly Crafted Ornate Weapon

  • Weapon Skill: Last Rites
  • Requires: Str 12, Dex 10, Fai 14

While the Golden Epitaph may not be the most widely used sword in Elden Ring, it is certainly one of the most striking. This ornate weapon has a religious feel to its decor. Its guard looks more like a church altar, while the blade’s tip is adorned with a crucified body. The lore tells players that the weapon was created in commemoration of the slain demigod Godwyn the Golden and that it was "Infused with the humble prayer of a young boy; 'O brother, lord brother, please die a true death.'"

Players will find this stunning weapon in Auriza Hero's Grave . A Stoneword key is required to unlock the room. The Golden Epitaph is a strong choice for faith-builds, as it does additional damage to undead enemies and stops skeletons from reviving.

2 Golden Order Greatsword

A Relic Made Of Golden Light

  • Weapon Skill: Establish Order
  • Requires: Str 16, Dex 21, Fai 28

This legendary armament is one of the most unique weapons in Elden Ring. Made entirely of golden light and said to be forged by Radagon himself, the greatsword represents the tenets of the Golden Order. Its design was modeled after the Elden Ring, while the in-game lore tells players “Telltale signs betray that this was once the greatsword bequeathed to him by his first wife, Rennala”.

The blasphemous blade in Elden Ring with the remains of rykard being consumed by tanith in the background
  • Weapon Skill: Taker’s Flame
  • Requires: Str 22, Dex 15, Fai 21

The Blasphemous Blade is by far the most disturbing weapon in Elden Ring. As Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy ’s sacred blade, this sword is covered in the remains of his devoured victims, merged in a mass of writhing flesh. Players first come across the weapon during the boss fight when Rykard retrieves it from deep within his open mouth.

While the Blasphemous Blade looks like something out of a body horror movie, it is also one of the most effective weapons in Elden Ring. Its weapon skill, Taker’s Flame, hits enemies with life-stealing fire. To acquire the Blasphemous Blade, players must exchange the Remembrance of the Blasphemous in Roundtable Hold after defeating Rykard in Volcano Manor.
