After several years of active development, Elden Ring is finally available for commercial purchase and so far, many players have liked what they see. With expansive, detailed environments for players to explore, combat mechanics on par with the rest of the FromSoftware's titles, and imaginative lore for players to uncover, Elden Ring certainly has a lot to offer its player base. However, there also appears to be an Easter egg that pays tribute to the man whose work many consider to be the key inspiration for Dark Souls as it exists today.

The Berserk manga inspired not just Dark Souls, but both Bloodborne and Sekiro as well, with various different aspects of the narrative, characters, and architecture serving as integral components to the design of most FromSoftware games. Sadly, the author of Berserk, Kentaro Miura, passed away last year, but Miura's work still resonates within Elden Ring in the form of an homage to Berserk's lead character, Guts.

There's a greatsword that can be discovered in Elden Ring that looks nearly identical to the greatsword that Guts wields in the Berserk manga. Clearly, this is intended to honor not just Guts, but the late manga author as well. For longtime fans of both Berserk and Dark Souls, this Easter Egg will be sure to excite.

When Kentaro Miura passed, many fans of both Berserk and the Souls series were quite devastated. To the point where, last year, after Miura's passing, fans flooded the Elden Ring subreddit with Berserk appreciation posts in order to honor Miura. Now that Elden Ring has officially released, there will likely be plenty more Berserk-related Easter eggs and tributes for players to find.

It's amazing how much success and attention Elden Ring has received in such a short time frame. Despite Elden Ring's release date delay, many players have taken to the game quite quickly. Given that this is FromSoftware's first crack at an open-world game, there's sure to be a plethora of additional content and Easter Eggs for players to find.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Elden Ring going forward. Considering how recently the game has launched, it's unlikely that fans will see any additional content for Elden Ring anytime soon. However, numerous FromSoftware titles, including both Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne, would both later receive DLC. So, it's possible that Elden Ring could receive the same treatment in the months to come.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
