Elden Ring expands on the classic Dark Souls formula with a sprawling open world, offering dozens of hours of exploration and discovery. In their journey across the Lands Between, players will slowly gain strength, discovering new items and spells. Magic is a huge deal in Elden Ring, and magic-based builds are some of the most powerful in the game.

One of the best Incantations for a Paladin Elden Ring character is Aspects of the Crucible: Horns. The Horns are part of a sub-set of Incantations favored by the heavily-armored Crucible Knights, and allow players to charge forward with a shoulder-mounted horn, potentially knocking their target into the air.

Where to Find Aspects of the Crucible: Horns

Elden Ring Route to the Stormveil Castle Crucible Knight

Just like the other two Aspects of the Crucible Incantations, Horns requires players to defeat one of the powerful Crucible Knights. The particular Knight is found at Stormveil Castle, not far from the Ramparts Site of Grace.

Players looking for the Incantation should leave the Site of Grace through the north doorway onto the ramparts. After moving forward and defeating the first three Warhawks, the ramparts will open up on the west side into a wider fortification.

From here, players can drop down a series of ledges, including one that will always crumble and safely deposit them in a bush below.

From there, all players need to do is head south along the ledge to find the area where the Crucible Knight patrols. Sneaking past the Knight and going further south will allow players to unlock the shortcut elevator back up to the Ramparts Site of Grace.

Defeating the Crucible Knight in Stormveil Castle

Elden Ring Aspect of the Crucible: Horns Incantation Description

Like all the Crucible Knights in Elden Ring, the one in Stormveil Castle will be a challenge for most players. Its heavy armor, tower shield, massive poise, and strong resistances make it impossible to win quickly, and players will have to learn the Knight's pattern to work it down.

The Knight will lunge forward if its target tries to heal, so players should make sure to keep plenty of distance when recovering health. These lunges can sometimes leave the Knight vulnerable to counter-attack, particularly if players dodge forward rather than away.

After losing roughly half its health, the Knight will gain the ability to sprout fiery wings and make a powerful charge, as well as a tail to make one or two sweeping attacks.

For players having difficulty with this fight, there is a way to cheese it in classic Elden Ring fashion. If players dodge around the knight and reach the elevator room, they can send the elevator up and reveal the pit beneath it.

The Crucible Knight can then be tempted into blundering into this pit while fighting in the elevator room, killing it instantly.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
