Elden Ring just received a new update which made several adjustments to the game’s balance. Patch 1.04 buffed Colossal Weapons by improving their attack speed and reducing the recovery time. It also buffed several sorceries and incantations in Elden Ring by reducing their cast time, FP cost, and stamina cost.

Patch 1.04 for Elden Ring focused on improving various attacks and strategies to make them more viable throughout the game. It improved different weapon skills by either increasing cast speed, decreasing recovery time, reducing FP cost, or a combination of adjustments. It also added new events to Patches’ questline and implemented several bug fixes. However, one significant change was not listed in the patch notes.

IGN reports that Patch 1.04 makes the tutorial for Elden Ring easier to find. Players will now see a message near the beginning of the game that points towards its location. For those unaware, Elden Ring has a good tutorial section that goes over the game’s fundamental mechanics, including parrying and stealth. It even has a short boss fight, but this tutorial area is easy to miss, as players can completely ignore it and progress to the opening region. Now, a new message tells players to jump down the hole to reach The Cave of Knowledge, where they can learn about Elden Ring’s controls and gain some other helpful tips.

It appears as soon as players go near the area, and they don’t need to view a message on the ground to see it. Many users probably missed the tutorial section, so FromSoftware decided to add a note that points toward it. In a way, they added a tutorial that leads to the main tutorial of Elden Ring. Strangely, the developer only decided to add this message almost two months after launch.

The tutorial section may not be that essential as it only introduces players to some basic mechanics. Elden Ring is a deep and challenging game, and it probably takes many hours of practice to get good at the game. Still, it’s a necessary tooltip that will help ease newcomers into Elden Ring.

Elden Ring has several other useful features that many players probably never discover. For example, players can keep track of the dungeons they have completed in Elden Ring by going to the menu showing all Sites of Grace and pressing R3, which will add a mark next to the dungeon. Players find most of these features by accident, and maybe FromSoftware can consider sharing information on other in-game tools to further help users.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
