Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is the spiritual follow-up to the Suikoden series, specifically the first two games. Like the classic JRPG series, Eiyuden Chronicle features base building, strategic combat, and over one hundred characters to recruit for battle and the home base. Suikoden features 108, but Eiyuden includes 120 heroes to collect.
One of the more unique characters to find is Mellore, a magic-wielding fighter who won't join unless the party follows her to a dungeon and defeats the boss. This guide will show players how to help Mellore defeat the Nerthus and make her a permanent party member.

Where To Find Mellore In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
After the opening mission in the Northern Runebarrows, time will skip a few months to the party in Eltisweiss. Nowa is tasked with recruiting more members to join The Watch. Explore the town, and the party will bump into Mellore north of the fountain.
- Follow her toward the town's exit, and the party learns that Mellore is going to Redthroat Ridge, east of Eltisweiss.
- Before going straight to Redthroat, take a trip west to speak to Kuroto in Altverdon Village. Use the Kuroto recruitment guide to hunt three wild boars in Redthroat Ridge.
- After speaking to Kuroto, walk east toward Redthroat Ridge to trigger a scene with Mellore and get her to join the party to hunt down the monster at the end of the dungeon.
- Mellore will join the party permanently after defeating the boss.
How To Defeat The Nerthus In Redthroat Ridge
- The Nerthus is located northeast in the dungeon area, but make sure to explore every corner to find the chests for rewards.
- Another scene with Mellore will trigger about halfway through Redthroat Ridge.
The party will encounter several wild boars to complete the Kuroto recruitment quest . The party should be at least level 9.
- Keep venturing north until the party arrives at the northernmost bridge with a save point.
- Save the game before fighting the boss.
- Walk over the bridge, and a scene with the Nerthus will trigger, and Mellore will cast a spell that places two Grimoires to the left and right of the monster.
- To use the books, one of the party members must attack/gimmick one of the books when the creature is underground. The book will cast a massive hammer to hit the boss with 150 damage.
The hammer will miss if the left book is attacked, and the creature appears on the right.
- Unfortunately, it's hard to predict which side the monster will appear.
Use a weaker character to attack one of the books, and attack Nerthus with the party's strongest attacks, like Nowa and Lian's Hero Combo the Senior & Junior Combo.
When the monster is defeated, Mellore will become a permanent party member.
