Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a JRPG released by Keen Games that offers players a unique throwback to some of the old-school games that many grew up on. The game features overl 100 unlockable characters (some of who are better than others), making it a blast to play.

One aspect the game takes from those old-school games is its strategic combat, which can be done in the form of dueling (though this isn't the main way it is done). Duels can be extremely difficult to understand and master if players haven't experienced them before. Here's everything they need to know about the game's combat.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Dueling, Explained

Dueling is when players will take on another enemy by themselves, which is very different from regular battles. For these battles, a main character will take on a single antagonist, resulting in a duel. These are usually moments in the story that are pretty intense and mark major moments for the player. Unfortunately, the game doesn't really give instructions on how these duels work, meaning a lot of players struggle more with them than any other part of the game, which can be extremely frustrating.

The truth of the matter is that players don't have to win duels in the game. While most players want to win because, well no one wants to lose, the truth is that the game will somehow explain away the loss and continue the story. There aren't really any moments where winning a duel is required in order to continue the game. This makes the duels even more confusing for players as they may wonder what the purpose even is. It seems like the main purpose is to give players the opportunity to engage in more intense one-on-one battles. Duels bring an air of urgency to the battle in a way that other battles might not.
