Given that Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes serves as the spiritual successor to Yoshitaka Murayama's fantastic Suikoden series, the fact that it leans so heavily into classic JRPG tropes and mechanics should come as a surprise to no one. In addition to random encounters, turn-based combat, and a ridiculously large cast of potential party members, the game features one iconic yet highly limiting mechanic that some younger players may not be too familiar with.

Kickstarter has become a great way to fund a game and get it out there, but which campaigns have been the most successful?

Those who pause the game will quickly notice that although there is an option to load, players won't be able to save the game via the main menu. There is an autosave feature, but this only kicks in when players transition from a town or dungeon to the world map screen, meaning that players could potentially lose quite a bit of progress if they're not careful. Thankfully, though, there is a way to save manually in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

How to Save in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

As is the case in a lot of classic JRPGs, Eiyuden Chronicle only lets players save the game manually at an inn or a save point. This system for manually saving the game may seem highly restrictive at first, but save points are actually incredibly plentiful in dungeons and every town has an inn, so players will rarely go more than five minutes without having an opportunity to save. Save points can be identified by their green glow, while inns are marked with a bed icon on the map screen. Unfortunately, saving the game will not restore the party's health and magic, though if players happen to be at an inn, they can accomplish this simply by resting there before they save.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes does provide players with an explanation of how its save system works, but this is tucked away in the game's Help menu and so is very easily missed.
