Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is every bit the spiritual successor to the classic Suikoden series. Developed by key Suikoden team members, several elements and mechanics from the original games have made their way into Eiyuden. This includes the late Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama, artist and producer, Junko Kawano, and Osamu Komuta. The magic system that centers around Runes makes a return and functions similarly to the Suikoden series. How To Change Runes In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
The playable characters in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes begin with one Rune slot. These Rune slots allow the party members to increase their skills, strength, dexterity, magic ability, and unique abilities. Thankfully, most cities, towns, and villages include a Rune Store where the party can purchase new Runes and change their current build. The Item Warehouse at the Hero's Den in Eltisweis lets the party swap their Runes and Gear. However, only the Rune Stores sell them. Use the following steps to change Runes:
- Speak to Sumire at the Hero's Den or a Rune Store owner.
- Select Gear Prep for Sumire or Change Runes at the store.
- Then highlight and select Change Runes.
- Choose the desired character.
- The characters won't be able to equip a new Rune until they reach level 10. This unlocks the Enhance slot.
- The party can equip the Rune of Power, the Rune of Speed, the Rune of Skill, the Rune of Magic, and other resistance-based buffs in the new Enhance slot.
Unlocking More Rune Slots In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
The characters in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes can unlock more Rune slots as they level up to gain more abilities and strengths in combat. The more powerful party members, like Nowa and Seign, have seven slots to unlock, but the characters like Garr, Iugo, and Lian have four slots, Mia has five and Mellore has six. The more Rune slots, the more a character can be customized and enhanced.

In addition to purchasing Runes from merchants, the party can find them by exploring and finding chests in dungeons and defeating powerful enemies.
