The Suikoden series combined traditional turn-based JRPG combat, hero collecting, and tactics-style battles to represent the wars between the protagonists and the antagonists. As a spiritual successor to Suikoden, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes continues this tradition.

The first major war battle in the game ramps up the stakes and marks the end of the story's prologue. The war will break out after the heroes in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes have completed their stealthy mission after the Imperials have taken control of Werne Village. General Chapell will lead the charge against Perielle and her team of captains controlled by the player. This guide will show Eiyuden Chronicle fans how to win the first major battle in the story.

Preparing For The First Tactics Battle In Eiyuden Chronicle

Eiyuden Chronicle - Francesca defending the wall

The tactical battles in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will be familiar to fans of turn-based strategy games and the Suikoden series. The first battle gives the player control over three units and they must defend the Eltisweiss Front from the attack Imperial Army.

The player should try to recruit as many Eiyuden characters as possible to join the rebellion against the Imperials. These characters will use their abilities to support, heal, and attack on the battlefield. Francesca, for example, will heal her assigned unit.

Winning The Battle Against The Imperials In Eiyuden Chronicle

Eiyuden Chronicle - Sabine on the battlefield

More heroes strengthen the army and will help win clashes when both sides clash on the battlefield. In this battle, the player must prevent the Imperial army from reaching the fountain in the city. Use the following steps to defeat the Imperial Army:

  • Sabine's unit is in the middle in front of the fountain, maintain her position until Seign shows up with the tank.
  • Move Nowa's and Ymir's units to the wall and wait for the enemy to attack.
Eiyuden Chronicle - Ymir engaging the enemy
  • When the enemy units move closer, use the Legion Command to damage their units.
  • The enemy will pull back with fewer numbers.
  • Seign and Hilda will show up with their tank and destroy the front gate.
Eiyuden Chronicle - Move Sabine to engage with Chapell
  • Move Sabine's unit toward the destroyed gate and engage the army.
Eiyuden Chronicle - Move all units to surround the enemy
  • The enemy units on the left and right will pull back, so move Nowa and Ymir's unit outside the wall to engage and surround the enemy.
Eiyuden Chronicle - Seign retreating on the battlefield
  • Chapell and Seign will retreat.

That's everything the player needs to defend the city and defeat the invading Imperial Army in Eiyuden Chronicle's first major battle. Use Carrie's fast travel mechanic to revisit towns to recruit more Heroes for the cause and stand a better chance of winning the later battles.
