The turmoil on Planet Foresta may have been quelled, yet the perpetrator of the incident still remains at large. With Ziggy’s plan of subjugating all of humanity still in action, the opposing side is in a race against time to counter his malicious plans. While the Oracion Seis Interstellar, Elsie Crimson, and the Edens Zero were already pursuing the former Demon King’s trail, another party has joined the fray to put an end to his depraved antics.
Poseidon Nero, the ruler of the Aoi Cosmos, has stepped in to quell Ziggy’s plans of creating chaos within his empire. With an entire cosmos under his command, Poseidon Nero is a truly an influential and god-like being, and his plans to counter Ziggy are bound to be fruitful. However, his strategy is rather unorthodox, possibly giving way to even more death and destruction along the way.
Poseidon Nero and the Oceans 6
As the supreme ruler of the Aoi Cosmos, Poseidon Nero has command over every single planet within the cosmos, though he resides in Planet Nero 1, also known as the Temple. From this planet, Nero gives out his commands to those under him to do his bidding for him. The series has already introduced Nero’s Beast Squad during the battle of Foresta, a squadron of soldiers that sits at the bottom of the hierarchy.
At the top of Nero’s power structure is the Oceans 6, a group comprising six of the most powerful beings residing within the Aoi Cosmos. Their purpose is to serve Nero religiously with utmost devotion and obedience, and it seems that the group has put its trust in Nero and his beliefs. The Oceans 6 are not exactly antagonistic in nature since their purpose is to ensure peace within the Aoi Cosmos and ensure every single planet remains safe from turmoil.
The series has revealed that Nero and Ziggy used to be friends, meaning Poseidon Nero isn’t necessarily an antagonistic character. This is also in line with the narrative of Elsie Crimson being on Edens Zero’s side despite being a member of the Oracion Seis Galactica. However, these associations may change as events begin to unravel, possibly pinning Nero against the Edens Zero crew at one point.
Nero’s Plan of Action
Based on their shared history, Nero was willing to go easy on Ziggy for old times sake and reason with him for his inhumane actions. However, the events on Foresta have forced Nero to take decisive action against the belligerent, especially since the risk of similar attacks on other planets runs high. To determine any course of action, Nero uses his “Sacred Guiding Dice,” a power of his that guides his actions based on the numbers rolled on the dice.
His plan for dealing with Ziggy is no different as the Sacred Guiding Dice will be the deciding factor in Nero’s course of action. To his surprise, all three dice roll on one, prompting him to step aside and relinquish all control to his adoptive son Shura. While his actions may seem quite odd and eccentric, he explains that the fate his dice rolls has allowed him to conquer the Aoi Cosmos in just one generation, meaning his Ether Gear power truly is capable of such an inconceivable feat.
The Heir to the Throne
Poseidon Nero has grown a vast kingdom, and he sits atop as the supreme ruler, but there will come a time when he will have to step aside and bestow the crown to his heir. For the Aoi Cosmos, unfortunately, Nero’s deranged and cruel son is next in line to take over, a fact that appalls many within the cosmos. Shura is Nero’s adoptive son, and the decision of adopting him was based on the Sacred Guiding Dice, indicating that fate has played a role in bringing the two together.
Shura is deeply tied to the series plot as he is another one of Ziggy’s students, though he only briefly practiced Gravity Ether Gear under the Demon King’s mentorship and developed the skills himself. His self-achieved mastery over Gravity Ether Gear stands as a testament to his advanced skills and power, making him a commendable foe for Shiki and the rest to eventually face off against.
While Shura may be Nero’s son, he bears none of his characteristics or beliefs. Right after gaining control of the Oceans 6, Shura’s very first act was to kill Revenant Cyca, an android member of the Oceans 6. His psychopathic tendencies and lack of compassion have become quite clear, meaning his only goal is to spread chaos and destruction throughout the Aoi Cosmos. With such antagonistic tendencies, it's likely that Shiki and Shura will face off soon enough, determining not just the superior Gravity Ether Gearist but also the true protégé of Ziggy.
