NetherRealm Studios' Ed Boon has potentially teased that fans may see the next Mortal Kombat 1 reveal at this year's upcoming New York Comic Con event. The fighting game finally released earlier in September, after much anticipation. Mortal Kombat 1 is already seeing plenty of success, including strong critic reviews and positive impressions from gamers. The momentum doesn't seem to be slowing down either, as there will be a number of DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 1, like Omni-Man and Homelander, though they're still currently in development. The game's creative director, Ed Boon, has taken to social media regarding the game's future content.

Boon is a rather notorious figure on Twitter, where he has a bit of a reputation for teasing and trolling fans online. This can be seen in his various tweets, usually containing cryptic hints or pulling a fast one on fans. Boon's latest hints are no different, with him acknowledging a recent issue Mortal Kombat 1 has experiencing, but also managing it to tie it into potentially when the next reveal will be.

One of Boon's latest tweets was discussing the latest patch for the game that is going to address Mortal Kombat 1's Player 1 advantage bug, which has been delayed into early next week. The tweet also included a hint at the end of his message, which incorporates the words "Next," "Yield," "Cwik," and "Corrections" in separate lines. The capitalized letters spell out NYCC, which many pieced to stand for New York Comic-Con. This year's event will be taking place from October 12-15, and though it is comic book-based like its name suggests, other forms of media often appear.

A hint like this immediately drove speculation, with many theorizing that some sort of gameplay reveal was going to happen at the event. The one many believed that Boon was hinting at was related to Omni-Man's appearance in Mortal Kombat 1, considering he is the first DLC character for the game. This was quickly dispelled by Boon himself, however, when he specifically stated that Omni-Man's gameplay trailer would not be at the upcoming comic convention. The wording doesn't say that Omni-Man won't be present at all, such as showing a pre-fight intro or a cutscene involving him. Regardless, fans should temper their expectations just in case the character doesn't appear at the show.

Ed Boon also recently teased what Mortal Kombat 1 DLC characters could be added, where he posted an image regarding various horror icons like Freddy Kruger, Jason Vorhees, and Ghostface, the last one being a highly requested fighter for the series. MK fans will need to wait and see what Boon's comment refers to when the event takes place later this October.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
