Earthworm Jim 4, the newest entry in a series that hasn't seen a title since the late '90s, has just released a new trailer showing off some 60 fps gameplay for the game, which was announced for the Intellivision Amico just a few months ago. However, the new simple trailer has failed to win over many fans with its featureless trailer.

Developed by Interplay, the Earthworm Jim series hasn't seen a major release in a long time, and with its new title being the first release in nearly two decades, it's important to make a good first impression to all of those who've never played one of their games. The "first look" trailer for Earthworm Jim 4, however, doesn't seem to be making that impression.

In the 40-second gameplay trailer, we see the titular worm in a supersuit wind up on a beach, run around, and spout out a few voice lines before running off to Heck. The last 10 seconds of the trailer are dedicated to reminding viewers that the game is going to be an exclusive title for the Intellivision Amico, a console designed for cheap, family-friendly games.

The YouTube page for the trailer offers a rather muted response when looking at the likes/dislikes ratio, with 810 likes and 367 dislikes at the time of writing. As for social media, ComicBook picked up a collection of tweets offering their unimpressed takes on the trailer. Some, including a former Earthworm Jim speedrunner, felt like there was very little actually shown in the trailer. Others joked that Earthworm Jim 4 is going to be an auto-runner or expressed disappointment in the fact that it's going to be exclusive to the Intellivision Amico. Overall, it doesn't seem to be getting as much excitement as something like the revival of the Fable series.
