Electronic Arts has several game franchises underneath its belt. Many of these franchises have done very well, including their sports division. Even though EA is known as one of the worst companies in the world, the publisher sure knows how to publish some really good games.

Lately, the games coming from EA have not been the best. Games such as Anthem and Mass Effect Andromeda have not done well. The successful launch of Jedi: Fallen Order helped the publisher make some ground up with players. Regardless, we can always turn to their top ten best franchises. (Scores are averages of multiple games across the franchise.)

10 Need for Speed (73)

Need for Speed Payback loot box changes

Need for Speed has been around for a long time. It has certainly had its highs and lows. Some would argue the movie was the lowest point, but we are discussing games here. Need for Speed has been a main competitor in the racing genre. It typically faces off against Forza, which has a consistently good record.

The most recent Need for Speed games have not received the best scores from Metacritic. Installments from the early 2000s seemed to be the peak for Need for Speed. We can only hope Electronic Arts returns to its roots for a great Need for Speed game.

9 Medal of Honor (78)

Best World War II Games - Medal of Honor: Frontline D-Day

The Medal of Honor franchise was flourishing in the '90s and early 2000s. It was a main competitor in the first-person shooter genre for some time. In fact, Vince Zampella, the creator of Respawn Entertainment, created the Medal of Honor franchise. He then moved on to create monumental first-person shooters like Call of Duty and Titanfall.

Since the golden days of Medal of Honor, EA hasn't done a great job at keeping it alive. EA has some major FPS games under its umbrella, such as Battlefield. The last Medal of Honor game did not do well, which released in 2010. Respawn is currently developing a VR Medal of Honor game that is planned to release later this year.

8 Sims (79)

The Sims franchise has allowed players to act out their own perfect lives or create nightmarish hellscapes for their sims. Regardless, Sims gives players the role of God. They can create who they want, make them do what they want, and so much more. The first Sims game released in 2000.

Since then, the game has evolved to incorporate a wide range of features such as pets, ghosts, vampires, aliens, and more. The most recent installment, Sims 4, has received okay reviews and continues to get content. However, said content is not free. Players will need to purchase the packs in order to add some desirable features.

7 Madden NFL (80)

Madden NFL 17 Review - Madden NFL 17 cover

Madden NFL was created in 1988. Since then, more than 25 different games have released. Many of those games released in subsequent years, which has been the standard for some time. EA releases a Madden NFL game every year. Many argue the publisher should take a break in order to give the franchise some breathing room.

Metacritic shows Madden NFL peaking in the early 2000s. Games within that time have the highest scores and feature must-play badges. For football fans, Madden NFL is a must-have every year, and that's okay. Madden will continue to satisfy the needs of football game fans for years to come.

6 Plants vs. Zombies (81)

Electronic Arts has done a great job of developing a shooter genre around the hit mobile game Plants vs. Zombies. The two installments of the franchise have received relatively good reviews. Both games feature great combat and an interesting cast of characters. Players will have a choice of classes on the plants and zombie side.

Once selected, the two sides will battle it out in a variety of game modes. Plants vs. Zombies originated as a mobile game that features players defending their home from waves of zombies. Garden Warfare takes combat even further by giving both sides playable characters.

5 Dead Space (83)

The developers behind the Dead Space series is no more. Visceral Games was shut down in 2017 while they were developing a Star Wars game. The Dead Space franchise started in 2008 and lasted until 2013. Dead Space had three main story installments with a few spin-offs and comics here and there.

Dead Space's best installment is Dead Space 2. The sequel saw the growth of Isaac Clarke and expanded the universe of Dead Space. The most innovative Dead Space mechanic was the need to remove the enemy's limbs rather than shoot their heads. The change in combat made for interesting moments in the horror franchise.

4 Battlefield (84)

Battlefield V

Battlefield has been a staple of EA's portfolio for some time. The first-person shooter is the primary competitor to the franchise giant Call of Duty. Battlefield has been around since the early 2000s. Electronic Arts has turned the shooter into something very special. The franchise does not release every year, so they have had time innovating.

Battlefield is known for its major multiplayer landscapes and destructive environments. The series has also strayed away from genre fads, such as science fiction themes. Call of Duty followed these themes as it tried to find its footing. Battlefield kept its footing and has continued to be successful.

3 FIFA (85)

Volta gameplay in FIFA

Electronic Arts is known for its sports games, and FIFA is one the most successful out of all of them. Football or soccer in the United States is the most popular sport around the world. Electronic Arts have done a good job of creating a fun and accurate soccer game for players all over the world.

Unfortunately, there have been some iterations of the game, not worth the price. For example, FIFA 19 for the Switch is a poor version. The game is almost exactly the same as the last and adds nothing to the experience. Hopefully, EA can start developing a better version of this world-renowned soccer game.

2 Mass Effect (86)

The Mass Effect series is one of EA's best games. The first three games are great with developing characters, allowing players to make decisions and storytelling. These features and many others are why this game franchise has done so well. Unfortunately, Bioware dropped the ball on the most recent installment.

Mass Effect Andromeda is nothing close to the original trilogy. The game's story, combat, and world fall flat in so many ways. Fortunately, the other games make up for its issues. Fans can continue to play the original games through EA Access or Xbox backward compatibility.

1 Titanfall (86)

Respawn Entertainment has created a unique world full of ten-foot-tall titans and wall running soldiers. The Titanfall franchise is the best of what Electronic Arts has to offer. The team at Respawn knows how to deliver exceptional games with unique experiences.  Apex Legends is also included in this scoring because it is set in the same universe.

Titanfall 2 is arguably one of the best FPS games of all time. The story also delivers an emotional train ride for players. Additionally, the Titanfall franchise inspired other major franchises such as Call of Duty. The developers at Respawn Entertainment know how to innovate and create great games.
