With EA Sports FC 24 now available to players who opted for early access and soon for the global community, there will likely be many who want to get up to speed quickly with the new mechanics that can make or break a season. Players who love getting assists and pinging gorgeous passes around or over the defense will be glad to know that they can do just that with some practice.

The key to all of that is Precision Passing in EA Sports FC 24, a new way of getting the ball where a team can pose the greatest danger to the opponent. An elevated level of passing that has not been possible before learning this skill will allow players to find passing lanes that are not achievable using the default controls. For those hoping to hit a killer pass, this guide will help make that happen.

What is Precision Passing?

Essentially, it's like the manual passing of old, but with added control to allow players to take advantage of space that opens up as the defense is shifting. Precision passes trade speed for accuracy, so it is best used when there is more space to run into for the attacking player.

Using the technique requires proper management of both power and placement, as the move will see players having to hold the button down for power and use the analog stick to direct the pass to where it needs to be. Knowing how to do this properly will lead to victories against the AI and other human opponents.

Using Precision Passing in EA Sports FC 24

There are three types of Precision Passes that can be done in the game, and they are broken down into:

  • Precision Pass (R1 + Triangle / RB + Y) - Functions like a through ball but with added control over its direction. Can also be used for normal passes to feet.
  • Precision Lob (R1 + Square / RB + X) - Similar to the Precision Pass, but through the air instead.
  • Swerving Precision Pass (L2 + R1 + Triangle / LT + RB + Y) - Adds curve to the pass, making it possible to bypass defenders and achieve a better angle for the attacker.

There are certain situations that work better when it comes to Precision Passing in EA Sports FC 24. For the Precision Pass, it is best used to send players into space where they can do what they are best at. Think of through balls through the center of the back line or in between the centerbacks and fullbacks.

For the lob, it can be used to nail down crossfield passes to the right player, go over the defense from one end to the other, or even be used for more accurate crossing if there is a numerical advantage for the attacking team.

As for the Swerving Precision Pass, use it in the half spaces or from the wing to get the curve right, evading the defenders and getting the strikers in behind for a shot at goal. Master it, and every team can have their own Kevin De Bruyne on the pitch.

EA Sports FC 24 is available now on PC, PS5, PS4, Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
